Description A remake of my Iron Dragon fighter done in my current style.

The Iron Dragon is a typical example of 30th Imperium technology. While widely considered to be obsolete in comparison to the majority of competing aerospace  superiority fighters currently in service throughout the multiverse, the Iron Dragon's simplicity and low cost results in the 30th Imperium deploying obscenely large numbers of them during a typical military operation. Mainly relying on a linear aerospike engine for propulsion as well as a micropropellant RCS system for maneuvering in space, the Iron Dragon is capable of a maximum speed of Mach 5 at altitudes approaching sea level and much higher speeds at higher altitudes. Relying on an array of Active EM Spectrum Sensors to detect hostile targets, the Iron Dragon struggles to detect hostile aerospacecraft using more advanced stealth systems, but works well enough against common hostile targets. Electrical power for the aerospacecraft's systems is provided by an array of aerospace-grade nuclear batteries.

The Iron Dragon's consist of a pair of rapid fire 20mm gatling coilguns. Using a series of electromagnets coiled around each barrel, the gatling coilguns are capable of accelerating the projectiles to speeds that are more that capable of being used in a dogfight against even more advanced opponents such as R-FORCE. As the munitions are quite small due to the lack of propellant, each coilgun can carry a large amount of ammunition aboard. Typically each gun carries roughly 750 rounds in a dedicated ammunition storage cassette for each gun. On the main fuselage and on the wings are various hardpoints for missiles. With a total of 12 hardpoints available, the Iron Dragon can carry a somewhat respectable amount of munitions. The typical loadout for an Iron Dragon consists of 6 short-range A2A missiles on the fuselage hardpoints and 6 medium-range A2A missiles on the wing hardpoints. Other weapons, such as long-range A2A missiles, direct-fire gauss cannons, and EM disruptor weapons are also available. As is typical of modern aerospace superiority fighters, the Iron Dragon also supports limited ground strike capabilities in the form or freefall gravity bombs, although these are almost never used by Imperial commanders.
