HUmhumhum.This was an assignment at pratt. we were supposed to grid a photo of ourselves and then paint it, and concentrate not on the image as a whole, but each individual square. and it was supposed to be done chuck close style.
I didn't really follow the chuck close thing with the face part.
I had to take a photo of it because the image was so big. It made the colors look off and crappy because the lighting was sucky and my digital camera is kinda old...
Also, it's better to view this image small. because you see the colors blend in with eachother and stuff etc. yar.

You know... I'm not really sure. at first while it was developing he wasn't the most pleased with it because I wasnt really following his directions, but when I finished he looooved it, so I'm guess an A of some sort. X)

HEH, that's because I did a PRE COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAM there.
I'm still a senior in highschool. I acctually just gave Pratt all of my application stuff last friday...

you know, it's funny. That's EXACTLY what we've been doing in my art class as well. It helps to break the habit of cartoon-style to realism. love it!

I did this type of thing last year too, but it was in black and white and we had to skew our grid in some way so that your eye ended up bigger than your nose or something crazy like that. Anyway, I really love how you did your hair and the colors in the background are really great--doesn't make the painting boring in the least! Nice work. :]

Wow, this is awesome. That's the same technique I use on my art. Except I have to do the grids lighter, then erase them.
