Three incarnations of Caleb, and the two chess players that have been using him as a pawn, The White King (Malabar) and the Black Queen (Brinwen).
The three Caleb's are his various incarnations - The King, the Prince, and The Faceless Knight (With a face!). He's currently the lower-most figure, the one laying down, with the shorter hair, the Faceless Knight. He was previously the Prince, and will (hopefully) be able to become the King again, but this time, a better King than the one that he was. His three incarnations very, very faintly correspond to Nietzsche's metamorphoses.

There's actually a third chess player, but he's not pictured, and I'm not telling who he is.
