Oh yeah we're discussing your sheet right now Don't worry about fitting the spirit.. we have a diverse cast of characters. The editing process is just there to help the character fit into the world better.

Bravo!

I'm glad your style switches all over the board, makes for a much more enjoyable visit to your Gallery.

nomyai In reply to thundercake [2009-08-18 17:15:26 +0000 UTC]

I think you hit the nail square on the head with this one. I'm certain he's going to be thrilled with it! When you do a character, do you have a questionaire for the client to fill out? Could help in getting the feel of the character across.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thundercake In reply to nomyai [2009-08-18 17:33:41 +0000 UTC]

Sometimes clients provide me with a character sheet (this one did) but it's not really the same as painting a character from my RPG (one that I've known a long time) or some other thing I'm familiar with.

nomyai In reply to thundercake [2009-08-18 17:37:36 +0000 UTC]

This is true, "flying blind" (no references) can be nerve wracking. You did, however, carry him off beautifully. Congratulations.

To me, the perfect fighter pilot is Maverick from Top Gun. Arrogant, self-centered, conceded and absolutely lethal at what he does.

I always think of the Red Baron or Billy Bishop They were the rock stars of their time, when air combat was brand new. It must have been so exciting.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nomyai In reply to thundercake [2009-08-18 18:29:02 +0000 UTC]

A pair of true gentleman. The Baron was asked, by a Berlin newspaper correspondent, why he painted is aircraft blood red, wasn't he worried about being seen by the enemy? The Barons answer was that he wanted to be seen by the enemy. This would give the less proficient, novice pilots the chance to get out of his way! He was looking for a dogfight with an equal. There was no sport in killing someone who didn't know what they were doing.

I understand that Bishop would escort crippled enemy fighters out of the dogfight and allow them to return to their base. No sport in going after someone who can't defend themselves.

Exciting but just as dangerous as today.

Now, here's your nickel trivia question...

What weapon was used to shot down the first aircraft in World War I?

(Do you hear Jeopardy music?)

A brick!

When aircraft first were used, no one was armed. A French observation aircraft crew member threw a brick at a German observation aircraft and hit the pilot in the head (I'm not making this up!). The German crashed, but his wingman saw what happened. A few days later, a German observation aircraft pulled up alongside the Frenchman and shot his engine out with a shotgun. The war was ON!

Who said your style had to be consistent? x) I wish people were less consistent! Those "your style is similar to [insertname]'s style" would end. I wish people varied more, including myself.

BUT, back to the deviation, (XD) I love the rendering of the skin and his eyes. He looks badass x) And reminded of Jude Law['s style xDDD]

Must be because of Captain Sky and the World of Tomorrow.

Hey, I still owe you arts! you're on the List, buddy.

I never saw that movie.. it looked vaguely interesting, but got some bad reviews. Was it any good?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

coNstantine2530 In reply to thundercake [2009-08-18 16:34:50 +0000 UTC]

Well, it was a tiny bit heavy, and it was made entirely with the grren/blue screen (yes sir. no locations or nice rooms on the studio, just the screen), so some parts might look a bit artificial, but storywise I liked it. It's not complicated, and it has a Metropolis and HR Giger feel to it. I mean, I wouldn't nominate it for the Oscar xD But it's entertaining

And don't worry about mein artz; I know you're busy. I'm not stressed about it at all x)
