On the other hand'm afraid it aren't only happy thoughts and it would break my heart even more to see them spend their lives in a zoo....

in one of the parks where i go, with only felins, there are only fences.
when the animal is close, we see them blurred, when he's far that's OK. but for the camera to do the focus, ohh!...

yes, i have alywased thought the same way, i wouldn't like to be kept in big cages and ppl lookingi at me all the time. yet again it is helping their species, but it will only let them live another 50 years more or something. wish the pochures would stop.

We can understand animals and know how they feel, but we do need to make the effort to try. I don't mean simply looking at an animal that seems to have a "sad" expression and labelling it as such, but doing the research on how they express themselves and (more importantly) spending time with them to get to know their individual personalities. When we do that we can connect with them on a deeper level and understand what needs to be understood about what they feel.
