Description After installing the latest version of DAZ Studio and finding out about the new physics/cloth simulation dForce, i had to give it a try.
I managed to simulate a rectangular piece of cloth, but i think i will work my way up from there xD

Done in DAZ Studio Pro 4.10, rendered with Iray, postwork done in Adobe Photoshop CC and Google NIK Collection.

A great Piece overall, and a wonderful test run image for experimenting with something new.

First will do composition

The look of the Red silk is wonderful and theres always something sexy about silk draping over a womans curves, however the dimensions of it seem a little odd, as well as the angle at witch its draped across her. I feel like you tried to accomplish an effect that would have been better achieved with two individual stretches of fabric using only one. That rather then use a single piece to cover her breasts and another to cover her groin you tried to do both at once to cut work which for a test run is perfectly valid mind you, but i think you would have been better off simply letting the cloth cover her legs entirely.

In addition I think you could of really made the silk pop by simply having the flooring/background be a black low gloss fabric. Even better would have been to have her be on a bed with black sheets, or a black couch.

Next lets look at posing,

overall its well done, but i think you'd have been better served having her right arm run across her stomach either under or over the silk as the current pose caused some fire-hosing at her elbow, which on a typical piece would be fine as putting in the time to fix it in post would be worth it, but in a experiment putting in the time to fix that isn't so practical. In addition lets revisit the legs, since her left arm extends past the edge of the frame, it feels to me like her legs being bent up is forced and unnatural, as such i think you'd have been better off having her left arm remain in the frame and her legs extend beyond it, and since i presume the reason you had her legs bent was to allow the silk to drape over her foot to show it draping over an extremity i think it would have been a better choice to have it drape over her left or right arm and allow the legs to extend beyond the frame making the image more of a standard portrait layout focusing on the upper body rather then the lower.

My final note would be the almost pastel/colored pencil effect on the whole image, This is more my own personal taste but i think it takes away from the image but thats just me.

What a wonderful experiment it is

Well it conforms nicely, and the image is great, but going to wit until there is some way to retro apply it to older items before jumping on board, otherwise it is just an other G8 lock in tool

A lot of older items can be used with dForce, but not all of them.
There are limitations regarding how seperate pieces of the geometry are set up, but i haven't had any first hand experience yet.

Since it's a function that comes with the free upgrade to DAZ 4.10 it's always worth a try with some older items

There are some really helpful videos about applying dForce to older items on Mada de Leeuws Youtube channel.

I was wondering how hard it would be to use for other 'cloth' models and adapting to other clothes. Β The implication I have seen so far is that there is a 'magical' requirement in rigging the model or something. Β I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Β But with this maybe not. Β

Care to share your secrets and process?

From what i did read, there can be problems with some clothing, but i haven't done any more tests than this one yet, so i don't have any first hand experience.
Since i've just started using dForce, there's hardly any secrets i can share, i just used a single, rectangular primitive plane for this one and played around with the dForce modifier after adding it to the surface settings of the plane ^^

great, you manages to fix her in that pose? I keep on having the girl lying down in the simulation and the cloth getting involved far too early to end up in the right position... way too much to learn

There's a setting in the simulation panel that regulates, if a figure starts from the default pose in frame 0, which for most models would be the standing T-pose, or if only the poses you set for the frames in your timeline will be used.
It's "Start Bones From Memorized Pose", which is by default set to use the standard pose of the figure.
Change this setting and you can set all the poses from frame 0 to any frame you desire yourself

Oh, so glorious! sometimes the solution is so close and I don't see it. Thanks a lot that worked wonders

Thank you
Was impressed by your veiled robots at the DAZ gallery, amongst other dForce pictures, and had to try dForce myself
