I really like the look of this building for some reason.

Probably because it's not just another cube. The shape provides a variation in the lighting. The long balconies give the building a distinctive etched look on the edges which could be visible even from very long distances. Overall feels light, warm, and modern.
As for the picture, it's an excellent shot with some very nice lighting and cloud-cover.

Yeah, that's probably the gist of it - the triangular shaped structure is just more interesting than the regular square buildings, and the light produces some strong shadows on it.
That, and it's one of the only 'tall' apartment buildings in the area, so it naturally sticks out a bit.
