Description

~BASIC INFO~

Name: Night. He was given this name as a shortened version of his species classification, by his past self. When asked about what he would've like to be called, he says "My opinion on my name doesn't matter. It's not like it would change me."

Nickname(s): Shining Armour, Moony, and Sleepless.

These are all nicknames used by his best friend, Day. She uses Shining Armour as a play on 'night' as 'knight'. Moony and Sleepless are both descriptors of his attitude and how he is perceived by monsters.

Gender: Night is male though he is mistaken for a female, thanks to his long hair and baggy clothes. He doesn't really care about it enough to correct monsters.

Age: Since monster years work differently then humans, Night classifies himself by his reincarnation and how many humans he has seen who fell. He is the thirteenth and has seen three humans fall (four, counting Frisk), so he is sixteen. But he acts younger thanks to his shy attitude and  quiet voice.

Birth place/ancestry: Night was born in the woods outside of Snowdin and lived there with Day. He stayed  with Day as his one and only. He is of Irish descent, having thick accent of South Dublin descent.

Species/What Are They: Night is considered the physical manifestation the night, however, thanks to his equine like looks, he is  a night mare, despite not being female. He chose not to complain about it. This gives him abilities that are more focused on the dark. Night is frowned upon as being an example of the dark of the underground and is often viewed with negative connotation.  His species is a reincarnation based species, so once a nightmare dies, it is born again as a baby. How ever this doesn't include resets but actual death. Night is aware of being the thirteenth reincarnation, as all nightmares are guided by their past life until they can fend for themselves. He is represented as part Irish Sport Horses, he is classified as a light weight. The horses depending on class were used for hunting or other strenuous riding activities.  It has a good temperament, being calm, yet lively when needed, and is very tough. Along with that, Night is an nocturnal, staying up all 'night' and sleeping sparsely during the 'day.' Along with that he sleeps standing up, like all horses do.

Soul (Colour): White and inverted as all monsters are, his soul is not seen as anything special, the only unique quality is its size. It being smaller then most. However, the human soul traits he is most associated with are Justice with small dashes of Kindness and Integrity.

Sexuality: Night never specified his attraction but his is most likely pan-romantic, loving everyone no matter what gender, sexuality, etc, but is asexual, seeking no sexual partner.

Alignment: A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings  but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. Neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Creatures of neutral good alignment believe that there must be some regulation in combination with freedoms. Creatures of this alignments see the cosmos as a place where law and chaos are merely tools to use in bringing life, happiness, and prosperity to all deserving creatures. Order is not good unless it brings this to all; neither is randomness and total freedom desirable if it does not bring such good.

Neutral goods value both personal freedom and adherence to laws. They feel that too many laws may unnecessarily restrict the freedom of good beings. They also believe that too much freedom may not protect society as a whole and encourage counterproductive divisions and in-fighting.

These characters value life and freedom above all else, and despise those who would deprive others of them. Neutral good characters sometimes find themselves forced to work beyond the law, yet for the law, and the greater good of the people. They are not vicious or vindictive, but are people driven to right injustice. Neutral good characters always attempt to work within the law whenever possible, however.

A neutral good character will keep his word to those who are not evil and will lie only to evil-doers. He will never attack an unarmed foe and will never harm an innocent. He will not use torture to extract information or for pleasure. He will never kill for pleasure, only in self-defense or in the defense of others. He will follow the law unless more good can come from breaking the law. He will never betray a family member, comrade, or friend. Neutral good characters are indifferent to the concepts of self-discipline and honor, finding them useful only if they promote goodness.

~BATTLE INFO~

Atc: Night doesn't like to fight and deals only eight damage. He prefers to be more of the defence side then to fight and is very reluctant to do otherwise. He sees fighting as unnecessary but will be provoked easily within the Genocide route. Night swears not to hurt an innocent but once the player is no longer innocent he fights with all he's got.

Def: As said previously, unless fighting for someone he cares for or his own sense of justice, he will defend. His defence is higher then his attack, at twenty.

HP: Night isn't easy to kill, at a sixty-seven but he's certainly not hard to kill. He will do anything to avoid damage  thanks to his fear of pain. He does have the lowest HP of his reincarnations. The highest being three hundred and twelve on his previous reincarnation, Ebony.

EXP: When killed Night will give the player a total of four EXP.

Gold: When killed Night gives six gold.

Dialogue when being checked: *Looks scarier then he is. He is more scared of you.

Dialogue and Actions:

When sparing you (Dialogue): *I'm going to let you go. Please be careful, some may not be as nice...ha...

When sparing you (Actions): *Night smiles but frowns at the end

During a special attack (Dialogue): *Haha! This will be a living nightmare-Wait, crap, Day said that was too cheesy...um...special attack

During a special attack (Actions): *Night seems confused, his attack is sudden, brought on by an anger

Common attack (Dialogue)  *Do theses get bland? I wouldn't know...I don't really fight

Common attack (Actions): *Night looks concerned then looks down

Random attack (Dialogue): *Day is always saying to mix it up, so here you go

Random attack (Actions): *Night smiles proudly, his eyes are hurt at the mention of the name

When being spared (Dialogue): *Thank you...do I just leave?

When being spared (Actions): *Night points away, he does not meet your eyes

When entering a fight (Dialogue:  *I don't want to hurt you...but if you insist

When entering a fight (Actions): Night looks uncomfortable

When encountering CHARACTER, options are as follows:

*Tell a pun

When told a pun, he will roll his eyes and respond with 'Please stop. We don't need two.' He will continue with his attack and seems more irate and sporadic when doing so. He hasn't encountered Sans per say but has heard enough rumour to know of him. Plus Snowdin isn't exactly pun free, Night has no appreciation for puns, considering he is a walking pun himself.

*Hug

When hugged, he freezes and doesn't speak, but doesn't hug back. When attacking he does go softer. However if you hug more then once, Night becomes uncomfortable and tells the player to 'Please stop!' Night doesn't like physical contact and barely tolerates it from even from Day.

*Talk to

When talked to he will respond a little and will mainly ask things to the player. When attacking he seems happier and goes easier. He enjoys the small chitchat, glad to know about the player.

*Back away

Night will relax when given his space and say thank you. If talked to immediately after he can be spared. If hugged and then given space, he will spare you. Night enjoys his space and is grateful when people give him it.

*Question about Day

When questioned about Day, he will become angry and answer with 'She doesn't matter, don't bring her into this!' This is the only time he raises his voice. He will then attack and can not be spared unless he is hugged in which he will cry afterwards. He can be spared or will spare the player himself.

Powers/Attacks:

Normal attack: When using a normal attack, there will be a random slice pattern of a crescent moon shape. The player has to dodge the moon. The only hint of where the blade with come from is the twitching of Night's ears.

Random attack: The random attack includes a black mist that will rise by from the screen, it will converge on the player, it will  always  leave a place for the player to stay safe. It follows a centre pattern, often staying on the outskirts. Sometimes when using this attack, it will never deal damage. The reason why is never explained and Night doesn't say anything about it

Special attack: The special attack includes a set of two luminous veronica (X11 purple) Irish Sport stallions which will run in an x pattern and leaving foot prints. The player had to avoid both the horses and the foot prints. The horses run a total of five times.

It's suggested that Night can control the dark, plus not be visible and see in the dark. If going back to the spot of the previous fight with Night there will be a shadowy patch and if you run in and out of it, the text dialogue *Startled awake. He watches, curiously. No matter how many times he is awoken, Night will not fight again. He also has knowledge in healing magick and uses it often on himself and others

Weapons: Night  is weaponless and sees no need for a weapon. He doesn't fight usually except in his own name of justice or for his family. Then he uses his magick and relies on it. He hopes it will be enough but he understand eventually it won't be.

Fighting Style:  Night  has no set fighting style, he fights depending on what route, the players previous actions and his own mood. His fighting reacts to his own erratic behaviour. His magick is coloured and coordinated with the dark, his magick appearing as the veronica colour.

~RELATIONSHIP INFO~

Friends With:

Day- Day is Night's total opposite, in species, looks and personality. However, they were raised together and rely on each other deeply. In Night's mind, Day is everything. She is his mother, his sister, his best friend and his lover. He is very clingy to her and would do anything for her. That was until recently when Day betrayed him by lying to him and moving in with her boyfriend. Now he speaks coldly of her but is still way too emotionally attached.

Neutral With:

Napstablook- Night had always been neutral with him, respecting him and enjoying his presence. Their relationship increased a little more when Night went to Napstablook after his huge fight in order to feel like trash. He got his wish as they both went through their reasons they are garbage.

Night is also neutral with most of the mobs, Woshua, Vegetoid and Moldsmall's, etc. He thinks they're  cute and wouldn't ever hurt them, unless they were to mess up. To be honest, even then he probably couldn't hurt them.

Enemies With:

Sans- Fuck puns. That's all Night has to say. He really doesn't like puns and doesn't like Sans' attitude. He knows Sans isn't innocent but can't put his finger on why. However, he has no desire to fight Sans. The most aggravating thing is Sans only knows of him because he's a pun. Night despises him but has a grudging respect. Of course most of this is known through rumours and quick sights.

The Royal Guard- Once again, he's more of a nuisance to the guard. Night deals his own justice, no matter the laws he must break. So far it's just been minor laws and a window. So, he's only had to deal with Dogeressa and Dogamy.

Family: Day is his only family he needs, having no memory or clue to who his birth family is. The only clue he has is his pendant

Crush(es): None, he sees no need for a lover at the moment, focused on Day and making his difference. However he is clueless to romance, one of the reasons flirting isn't an option for when you encounter him.

~PERSONALITY~

Personality overall:

Night is overall a very shy person, he rarely shouts and doesn't like to cause harm. He hopes to do more good then harm, so he will fight for his own personal justice, but he isn't  the best at conviction or fighting in general. However, he is self conscious of his own problems and his own lack of power. He has points of low self esteem, but never lets that stop him. He's always willing to aid as long as it's right. Night does however get confused easily and has a hard time finding directions.  He sometimes has a hard time judging the fine line between right and wrong. This can lead to him making a wrong choice in which he will always have guilt and self loathing over it. He comes off as twitchy and nervous to strangers and very shy, which is accurate. He will rarely smile, however when he's around Day he lightens, smiles easily and laughs. He does not like to sleep at 'night', leading to him sleeping during the 'day', so when encountered then, he will usually be very groggy and disoriented. Despite all of that he is very loyal and will always stick with people who are his allies. He doesn't make friends very easily but when he does he keeps them and cherishes them.

Strengths:

Judgement- Night is very good at judgement of actions and character and it is rare he will make a mistake. When he sees the actions as wrong he will follow the necessary means to change the actions and help both the victim and the causer.

Defence- He excels at it when fighting and can last a long time on defence alone he relies on it heavily and is always using it to other techniques.

Reading people-Just as he can give judgement, he is very good at reading people. He can read both actions and body language with ease in an almost eerie, psychic like ability. He uses it in both battle and justice.

Weaknesses:

Social encounters- Night doesn't know how to speak to people and with often stutter. This can come from both his own awkwardness and his own overload of information he can get off people. Either way, socialising  is hard for him

Directions- For some reason, Night has no sense of direction. Unless he is being guided he will always end up lost. He cannot be trusted to give or follow directions. This is another reasons why people think he may be blind.

Speaking his mind- When it comes to words and actions, Night prefers to speak through actions, not speaking his mind readily and when he does he expects immediate backlash and hatred.

Likes:

The cold- Night being born in a cold environment prefers the cold to the heat. He does have heavier clothing and hair, making him  suited for the cold instead of the heat. However, he doesn't freeze when it cones to the cold, allowing him to bare his arms. When he was younger, he went barefoot often in the snow.

The dark- Since Night doesn't sleep at night, it is thought he doesn't like the dark, but that's the total opposite. He adores the dark and wishes more action would happen in it, like the day.

Cold foods- Just as he likes the cold, he likes cold foods. This usually includes produce, sandwiches and when he's desperate, cold soup. If he's served hot food, he'll  wait until the food is cold before consuming it.

Reading Fantasy novels- Night is amazed by the descriptions in Scifi novels and reads any and all he can find at the dump. He is however confused and thinks the Human world is exactly like the books, believing them to be history books. He believes each novel describes a chapter of human history. Night has so far been sorely disappointed when none of the fallen humans have been able to shape shift or ride in ships.

Dislikes:

Yelling- Night isn't a loud person and he hates when people speak over him or yell at him. No matter the person, if you yell at him he will always have a slight negative connotation with that person. This extends to everyone, including Day. He also hates yelling himself and will only do it when he has no other way to express his emotions.

Being trapped- Night finds it bad enough that they're stuck underground. He doesn't want to add on being trapped there too whether it be in an area, trap or by a monster. However with his terrible sense of direction, he more often then not ends up stuck somewhere.

Sweets-He doesn't tolerate them. Night finds them gross and hates the taste of them.  He isn't sure what it is about sweets that disgust him. He refuses to eat them but would admit to eating it if he had too in a dire situation. When questioned what situation that was he responded with "If it were to stop the end of the world. And maybe to save Day, maybe. Depends on the sweet."

Being ignored- Thanks to his quiet attitude and voice, Night often ends up ignored in conversation. Whilst he is shy, if he has something to say he would like to be heard and not ignored. This often pairs it with people who yell and give the silent treatment. Though Night does that a lot, making him rather hypocritical.

Vices:

Doubt- When it comes to judgement, Night will almost always begin to doubt himself and his decisions. He also has doubt in people and what they would be willing to do to help him. This can lead to mistrust and even paranoia about the chances of people being willing to help or betray Night.

Envy- Night feels envy over a lot of things, whether it be a lover, family, power or magick. He's made some convictions and decisions based on envy but thus far has not hurt anyone over it. He has however broken a window.

Cowardice- When coming to fight with stronger beings and some decisions, Night is very cowardly and avoids situations out of his own lack of bravery. He tries to not let it control him but it has a strong grip and has no intention of letting go.

Detached- Whilst this may be a virtue to some people, Night uses it to the extremities of it becoming a vice. He acts very detached from other people and even the world he lives in. Day reassures anyone who bothers to ask that it's just his lack of sleep.

Eratic- This trait is often reflected in his way of talking and his fighting style, in which Night is very random and does or says what first comes to mind, often leading to trouble.

Virtues:

Tolerance- Night has a tolerance for most things, accepting pieces of his reality and monsters very easily. This comes from the lack of tolerance thrown his way. While he understands why he is treated the way he is, he tolerates monsters.

Cleanliness- Night likes things to be clean and will be meticulous when it comes to organising his things and keeping his appearance neat and orderly. He believes the first step to providing aid is to help yourself and keep yourself clean.

Gentleness- He is not a mean creature, he doesn't like using violence and has no stomach for it. Night treats everyone the nicest he can and refuses to fight. Even under conviction he will not fight his enemy and if they attack first he will defend or restrain the monster in question.

Honour- He honours what he feels must be honoured, including those who died and those who fight for justice. He runs on his own personal code of honour and gives everyone what they deserve, as long as they're worthy.

Modesty- While he does believe he is one to deal justice, he doesn't allow this to go to his head and turn him into and megalomaniac or egotistical.

Fears:

Athazagoraphobia- The fear of abandonment. Growing up with just Day, Night always worried that she would someday abandon him. He believes that she did when they fought and now clings to things desperately, not wanting them to leave too.

Gigantasophobia- The fear of tall people. Considering Night isn't very tall or loud, he is scared of people taller then him. This doesn't mean he will avoid them completely but he does feel uncomfortable around them. Day, being taller then him would always slouch so she seemed shorter.

Phonophobia- The fear of loud noises. This mainly points to yelling but Night is scared of screaming and loud talking. This is because he is quiet and his ears pick up noises very easily, making those noises louder and blocking his hearing.

Enochlophobia/claustrophobia- The fear of crowds/tight spaces. Night doesn't lie, to be crowded so tight spaces and crowds are a living nightmare. He feels trapped and they're usually loud, adding on another blocked sense.

Algophobia- The fear of pain. He doesn't deal very much damage and takes it easily. All he knows from his past life is that whoever was before him died a painful death (it is suggested the previous route was a Genocide route), making him fear pain even more. The ironic thing is those who fear pain are more likely to experience it.

Habits:

Fidgeting- If Night feels like he's being ignored, he will always fidget and shuffle his feet. He sometimes knots his hands together and other times plays will his hair. His tail will often flick too. He just does it to distract himself from the awkwardness.

Picking at himself- When under distress Night will pick at scabs from previous wounds, often reopening the wound. Day doesn't understand why he does it when he fear pain so much but he does. Night doesn't know why he does either, but he has three he picks at, one long one down his right leg, one on his left thumbs and one on the right side of this neck. These are accessible thanks to his left handedness.

Soul listening- When meeting a monster he listens to their soul, a thing all monsters can do. He doesn't delve deep, not enough to be rude but enough to hear name, pronouns and age.

Disorders: Night has no mental or physical disorders but Day does drag him to the doctors office for a couple things. One is his sleeping habits as she finds it completely abnormal and the fact that he sleeps standing up. Another is his picking as she's worried that it could morph into something more. The last is because when Night gets scared or worked up, he will hyperventilate and fall into an almost panic attack of sorts.

~APPEARANCE~

Eye Color: Night has large, owl like eyes that are a pale white-silver colour, appearing as if he is blind. He has been mistaken as such but if he is, but if he is, he's never mentioned it. His eyes are rather cartoonish with their round appearance the sclera and cornea are the colour of silver white but vary in shade, the cornea being darker then the sclera.  He appears to have no pupil.

Hair: Night's hair is to his navel and slightly wavy held in two braids. The hair is left parted and unbranded until his first rib. From then on it is loosely braid. His bangs are parted to the right and frame his face. It varies in colour but is made mostly of a midnight blue with interspersing Egyptian blue and even palatinate and white bits. The braid is held by a periwinkle ribbon and it is noted that he has a horses like tail. The tail comes down to his lower calf, it is held by a similar ribbon and is also wavy with the same colours. He can control the tail it often flicking in irritation and curling up slightly when he is sad.

Skin: Night's skin is a resolution blue, it should be noted that on his cheeks, bare arms and hands there are intricate designs in a Aqua. His cheeks have a series of wavy lines and dots interwoven. The lines start from the edge of his cheek and curve in a rainbow shape to meet one another Over the bridge of his nose. His arms have a set of bracelet like markings starting on his biceps and then curling down to his wrist to make a final cuff. Finally on his hands there are laced up curvy lines on the backs of his fingers, all meeting in the centre to form an almost Celtic knot like shape.

Body and facial structure: Night is ectomorphic with long limbs, despite being shorter then most males. He is only 158.5 cm (5'2) and weighs a wonderful 49.9 kg (110 lbs). He is classified as a light weight for his breed and looks it despite his short height, being very slender and childlike. But true to the breed he has powerful legs and arms. Night has a heart shaped face with a button nose. His brows are very light and practically invisible in some places. His eyes of course are large and round in an cartoonish sense. His cheeks bones are visible but aren't too strong. Night has small even teeth except for the top front teeth which are slightly larger with a visible gap. This giving him just the smallest hint of a lisp. His legs and feet have small nicks and scars from living in the forest and running about barefoot. The largest wounds are his right leg, right thumb and the right side of his neck, all scabs that he never lets heal

Clothes: Night wears a dark grey, sleeveless, hooded jacket he keep unzipped to reveal the black shirt underneath. On his right he wears threadbare, hunters green fingerless glove that come up to his elbow. On his left he has a piece of gold fabric tied around his wrist, the fabric is confirmed to be from Day's dress. He also wears black pants that are distressed at the knee and black lace up boots. The boots are riding boots that come up mid calf, they lace up in the back in an almost corset like look. He favours veronica (X11 purple) laces and usually wears a black choker with a crudely carved blue moonstone in the shape of a crescent moon. The pendant is only 8.9 cm (3.5 inches) high and 5.08 cm (2 inches wide). The jewel is heavily flawed and obviously passed down but he treasures it. It should be noted that all of his clothes were hand made by Day (minus the boots and choker) from various fabrics, she had Night pick a clothing design from magazines in the dump and she made them. Night somehow had the  terrible luck to pick a boy band design.

Other: Instead of a regular human ear, atop his head Night has horse ears. They are the same colour as his skin except for the tips which are the aqua . His ear are usually pointed behind him to listen for people behind him or one on each side to get full coverage. His right ear does had a medium sized hole that appears it was chewn on, on the left side. Other then that he looks relatively anthropomorphic  except for his colouring and animal features.

~OTHER INFO

Goals/Purpose: Night's goal is to help whoever he can and get rid of any crime he can. He wants to do some good in the world and at least save some monsters. He does serve as an advisor to the player, mentioning places that should be avoided and monsters to avoid.

Job: Night has no set job, he does helps with whatever he can and whoever will pay. He does have knowledge in healing magick so will often use that. Day however runs a small sewing shop so he helped there too.

Items: Night will give one item and only in The True Pacifist route. When defeated in battle, should the player go back to Night,  He will present the player with a moonstone carved in the shape of a soul. It will heal a maximum of seven HP. When asked why, Night will answer "You look upset, but you also look like you're trying to do something good."

~BACKSTORY~

Backstory:

Night woke up, his heart pounding and head burning, he looked around frantically. "Where am I?!" He whispers softly and then cocks his head in confusion. "That's not my voice...I'm supposed to be loud and..." The nightmare shakily made to stand but couldn't, he collapses back onto the ground. He tries to remember who and where he was. It was the woods and it was definitely night...and the trees were black...black as ebony wood.

"That's my name. Ebony." He mutters to himself, only the wind in the trees whisper their approval. He remembers he is in the woods outside of a small down with a funny name and pain. So much pain. Night's hands latch to his head as he remembers pain, someone, no something struck him down. He was murdered and the thing just laughed at him. The small nightmare wanted to wail at that thought.

'Hush, don't be afraid.' There it was, the tough female voice he as looking for. He had found himself.

'No, no, I'm not you. At least not anymore. I'm Ebony. Warrior to the Great King Asgore and the elixir of night. You are not me.'

"You stole my voice." Night accuses, indignantly.

'I did not. I'm a female, though your voice is close to the ideal females. Plus I was you. Was.'

"What am I? Who am I?"

'You are a nightmare. The physical manifestation of what the humans consider the night time. So far your name is Night, as I amazingly chose. And you are a male, at least at birth. Us nightmares don't really rely on gender. We have had plenty of agender, bigender, non binary and trans. And cis. All-'

"I'm the thirteenth?"

 'Well, yes.'

"Okay." Ebony the internally cringed as she felt some of the bravery the newest had, fade to fear. She didn't dare call him out about it though. Night stood, tripping again on his gown. He glares at the ankle length, white monstrosity he was born wearing before stepping on something hard and cold. He lifted up a pendant of a roughly carved shape on a piece of black string.

'It's a moon, a crescent. The stone is a moonstone, used for wishing. And that's sinew its strung on.'

"Ah...why is your voice so funny."

'Different accent, all of us are Irish, a surface place.'

"Surface?" Night echoed, shakily tying the pendant around his neck. It fell to his navel.

'You see monsters, like us. We fought humans and they trapped us in the underground using seven mages. The barrier created requires seven human souls. We currently have three.' Ebony clarified, sadness and rage both in her voice. Night was going to open his mouth to ask another question when his ears pricked and twitched, picking up a lightly noise. He turned in an half circle, picking up the soft humming of a girl. He stumbles, following the noise despite Ebony's protests. The nightmare ended up in an almost clear area, he shies behind a bush, peering out curiously to see who was humming. There, sitting on the snow, her legs folded beneath herself as she patted a gently modelled snow creature. The girl reflected an almost gold light with her orange skin, her fire like hair cropped in a short cut and a similar white gown.

Night watches, Ebony urging him to leave and was just about to when the girl sighs.

"Hello?" She calls out amused, turning in a circle. "Are you goin' to come out or are you goin' to keep creepily watchin' me?"

Night was startled as Ebony sighs.

'It knows you're here. Go on walk out.' The young boy obeys, walking out of the bushes, keeping his posture tense.

"You, oh you can't watch me...you're blind." The girls tone was mean and aggressive as if she wants to fight.

"I'm not, I'm not blind." Night whispers, watching the girl with apprehension and scared, shrinking away. The girl was scary, until she looked up. Night by now had backed away, his body clenched. Her bright yellow eyes were bright and happy and she began to babble excitedly, her beak barely able to keep up. She appeared to be some kind of orange bird, her arms instead long wings and her skin an orange shade.

"That's okay! I bet you were just watchin' me to see what I was doin'! Right?!"

Night had no time to protest as the girl spoke and spoke, watching the girl dumbly. She stood, shorter then him by a long shot.

"That's cool! My name is Day, I'm new! I'm the 16th. " Night smiles lightly as she walks closer, almost tripping on identical ankle length sleeping gown. "And you are?"

"Oh, I'm the 13th."

"You don't look it! Your name?"

"Oh...um...my name is-"

"-Niiiight!" Day squeals, her voice loud as it usually was but not raised enough to frighten the sleeping nightmare. She was practically bouncing, tugging at the nightmares hands. Night was sleeping, standing up against a tree, snow piling on his head from his long nap. "Get up, up, up!" She continues her assault, watching Night slowly wake up, his bones creaking from the stretch and one pale eye opening to squint at the bright girl.

"Oh, what time is it...?" He complains, noticing the awakened sounds, signalling the day.

"It don't matter! I finally found the proper things!" Night yawns, groggily stretching to the left, the snow falling off his head.

"Stuff for wha?"

"The clothes and stuff!" Day huffs, annoyed that Night had forgot. "Oh and these!" She stands, though her shoulders were extremely slouched, pulling out a pair of scissors. They were sharp but not as sharp as her sewing ones.

"What are you going to need those for and do we really need new stuff?" Night asks, wishing he were still asleep.

"Yes! Have you seen me?!? Have you seen yourself?!" Night looks  at Day with her orange hair to her waist and her nightgown ragged and now to her knees, showing  off scrapes and bumps. Night wasn't much better, his hair also to his waist and his gown practically in tatters. He sighs, flicking his hair."Okay...fine. Let me pick a thing." He sighs, flipping through the tattered and water damaged magazines, displaying human clothing.  He tried to read, flipping page to page but his eyes grew heavy. Next thing he knew Day was asking if he really wanted this one. Night  snapped awake, looking at the human in rather strange clothing. "Oh, uh, yes. Totally. And I think I'll do my own hair. Can I have that ribbon I like?" Day pouted, trying to utilise her adorable looks and chipmunk cheeks.

"But-"

"Just come on! I'm thirteen, I can cut my own hair!"

"It's irresponsible as the big sister."

"Day!" Night wheedled.

"Fine, fine, but I'm going to watch."

And that how he ended up in front of a large sheet of ice, using his eyes reflection as more of a mirror then the ice, snipping away with the scissors. He didn't want it too short, he thought, cutting it away. He liked the colours and how mixed it was. So he left it long. A new look, he decided. He like that it was-

-new. The clothing was new. But nice. Night had decided, playing with his shirt and clicking his boot heels. Somehow it had turned out okay. His ears pricked and twitched at what sounded to be the sound of a door opening. He rushed through the woods, gasping from the speed when he reached the edge. The nightmare glanced out through the tree line. It was a rather strange looking monster, dressed in brown fabric with long blonde hair. With a large hat and the silver weapon, she appears like the Wild West cowboys he would sometimes read about in his history books. The girl looked around, a certain confidence surrounding her. She had a look that promised justice, something he could fell akin with.

'It's a human.' Ebony hissed, Night flicked his ears at the sudden reappearance of the voice, his left hand moving to his right and beginning to wrench at his scabbed over wound.

"Well, hello again Ebony."

'You need to kill her, we need to.'

"There is no you or we, there is only I and me." Neither responds, prickling at the thought of hurting the so far innocent girl. He was going to step out and approach her when she walked past and he saw a figure follow her. A few minutes later there was a loud air rushing noise and a rather familiar, amused tone.

"I am not dealing with him." Night argued to Ebony, his movements becoming jerky  and frantic. So he ignored the girl and the next. Each time he felt aged, his growth from thirteen to fifteen happening slowly.

It was the next one, a small boy with black hair and bright brown eyes that caught his own eye. He stopped and talked, his soul conjuring the others into battle to test him. The familiar buzz of magickal energy cracked in the air and his vision was monochrome as he fought. A bitter, metallic taste coated his tongue and helped him focus on the fight. The boy had perseverance, that was plain to see. After a battle of no damage. He gave advice and rather poorly described directions. The young nightmare left before that damned skeleton showed up. He never did ask for the human's name, oddly enough. Neither wonders at day sometimes whether he should have. He also wondered with deep and heavy guilt if he should've watched the boy better. Not have let him-

"-leave." That was all he heard, the nail being driven through his soul to sign his death warrant.

"You're leaving." Night echoed, his voice as dumb and quiet as the day they first met. Day nods again with patience, brushing away her hair. He should've seen if coming, she mentioned a boyfriend and her hair began to grown long. She never like it out of that short chin  length cut. But there her hair was, to her shoulders.

'To please him.' There his sister was, his Day, his dear sister trying to please a...a man.

"You can't leave me." He whispers, feebly, his eyes not leaving the ground. Then she, Day actually sighs. Like she knew this confrontation would happen, like she expected her poor, weak, younger brother to break down and have his little panic attack.

"I love 'im, Moony-" she being to soothe her brothers frayed nerves. She also hoped the nickname would bring some sense of calm.

"What...What about me?You promised when we were kids you'd never leave. Don't you love me? Is he better then me?" Night whispers a little louder, his nails beginning to pick at a scab on his right hand, antagonising the partially healed sound, easily making it bleed this time.

"Night, wait a minute now-"

"You promised, does your word mean nothing now?!" His voice was now a shriek, growing with agitation and stress as he cut her off once more.

"Night-" she whispers, her eyes sad and her expression heavy.

"You're leaving me alone in the woods! You're leaving me to die! I-I just bring you down and now you're trying to leave!"

"NIGHT, SHUT UP, THAT'S ENOUGH!!" Day yells, her hair practically flaming as she yelled at the top of her lungs. Her spine straight and she towered over the trembling nightmare in an act of pure intimidation. Her younger brother stumbled back, falling on his butt and scuttling back. His arms with raised in an act to ward off what he assumed was an incoming attack. Day turned away, guilt eating away at her already. But then she remembered the look in her boyfriend's bright green eyes as she told him she was going to live with him. The water based monster was overwhelmed. So she hoisted her barely filled backpack and turned away. Night stared blankly at his feet as he realised what he was doing. She couldn't leave.

'Don't let her. Stop her.' Ebony mutters, resentful towards the monster girl. The  deceased nightmare was bitter towards the bird girl, believing she sheltered the newest way too much. She babied him and made him sickeningly weak. Night was too scared and too panicked to do anything but listen, his vision turning monochrome and the familiar metallic taste coating his tongue with a tar like consistency. Just one hit, that would snap her back to her senses.

"Night." Day warned coldly, her body tight with pent up rage. The conjuring of her soul into battle seemed to tip it over. Just one-

-HP. She had left him with one HP. He hadn't hit her once and she attacked viciously. He didn't have the heart to hurt his older sister. So he resorted to dodging and pleading. She left him curled on the ground, sobbing from fear, pain, sadness snd abandonment. He sobbed sorry over and over. She didn't grace him with a response. Then she vanished, leaving behind only her cloth, wounds and her sobbing brother. Night called himself hoarse to both her and Ebony. He had his breakdown, shrieking and his breath catching in his throat, running his nails down his legs, leaving sharp cuts. Neither responded. Both had left. He pulled out a cold can of soup he had intended to eat tomorrow. Instead he ate it now, trying to regain his HP. He focused on his green healing  magick, closing his wounds and focusing on the  vicious gaping hole on his ear. He just had to survive till-

-morning. It was morning two lonely weeks after his huge fight. That's when Nights ears twitch lightly at the sound he hasn't heard in ages. The door with only darkness behind it, opening slowly. The young nightmare, yawned stretching. Trying to decide whether to go and see. He had to. Nothing, no one could stop him. He ran through the woods, appearing at the edge in time to see the human. This time he was in control. Not Ebony whispering for death or Day saying there was nothing to do. Nice tan skin, an over sized sweater and closed eyes graced her-his, no, their face. He could hear their soul pulsing with their age, pronouns but not a name. He stops in their way, smiling lightly.

"Hi, I'm Night? What's your name?" Night was groggy and was just curious about the new one. The tiny person seemed confused, maybe from his accent at first but finally understood. They smiled, their fingers flashing quick symbols in silent answers.

Hello, I'm F-R-I-S-K. Night nods, reading the sign language slowly. He was eager to see what they will bring. After all, he did just turn seventeen. The underground and he were both filled with a new chance. His hand moved to his right but he didn't pick, just knotted them together.

"Nice to meet you." He whispers as his soul is tugged into battle, Frisk's glowing a beautiful red. And suddenly the air as filled with determination.
