In honor of May the 4th (hah), here's a blueprint-style image of a starship I'm working on. Just a rough line vector for now, but more than enough to start a 3D model I think.

It's in the TNG/Picard era. I'm not a big fan of the flat starship or spoon-saucer trend, and this design is certainly derivative because I think I took a lot of elements from my favorite designs.

Design Notes

I've still got a lot of details to fill in, but in the spinal trench, the main shuttle bay is directly over the impulse engines. In order to protect shuttles from the impulse wake, there's a hard-light forcefield projected that acts as a sort-of runway - and it would even have signal lights made from a sequence of pulses against the field. Nerdy enough yet? Anyway, it would be a unique visual effect I think.

Also, along with the complement of shuttles and auxiliary craft, the class features drone fighters (optional pilot) that are docked upside down in the hull like escape pods only double the size. I imagine roughly twice as many in the tactical saucer.

As I'm tweaking some of the shapes, a lot of the small details, including the shapes of the escape pods and drone craft are Reuleaux triangles but double diameter of the circles and rounded tips. I almost went with a guitar pick. *V'Ger riff*
