I have never seen the anime but an advertisement about it (showing the two main characters) at the Manga/Anime store in Munich that I visited the first time around 1998 burnt itself into my mind.
With that said, I think you did a great job again at recreating anime characters in your unique style Both characters look very pretty but not just that
