Do you happen to mount the bfk paper before or after working on it? also how do you deal with it's delicacy?? every time I use it with a drawing medium it's been difficult to say the least.

theirison In reply to Spikie [2013-09-04 11:17:03 +0000 UTC]
I tend not to dig in with my pencils, I lightly lay the pencil down then blend with a blending stump. The paper tends to go forever like that.
Also, try wetting the paper first, then let it dry. The paper will get stronger, after all it is printmaking paper!
And yes, I mount the paper down to board with matte medium very carefully.

well, if this style is working for you, what does it matter?Β The "Pretty" one before probably doesn't sell as well as your colorful style... Am I right?
Β
But, I would never do that to any of my work - doesn't make a lick of sense, hmm, but then again, you have planned this from the start
π: 0 β©: 2
theirison In reply to theartyst [2013-08-30 22:26:39 +0000 UTC]
The "pretty" one would have sold fine, perhaps better, who cares.
I've painted pretty faces to death, that creative path is exhausted. If I am not growing as an artist what's is the point?
Β I paint things that move me. Representational portrait art bores the hell out of me (I still like painting pretty things, but I like to experiment with them)
And no, this would not make sense for your work at all, I agree.
note* I'm not in any way criticizing your comment or art, you have found you market and that's what works for you, that's awesome!
I just look at art in a much different way then you. To each his own

that's cool,
Β
When I said the "pretty one" it was because I agree that they're mundane these days!Β After creating over 1,000 I had enufΒ too. (it may have taken me awhile to realize that)Β But I don't do that style anymore
Β
You've only have seen a sampling of what I do - I prefer not to show New works on DAΒ anymore. I Love your work man - so don't get me wrong all I was saying was you're doing your thing, I expected the color to be applied eventuallyΒ ...
Β
I ain'tΒ mad either*Β Β I'm not stuck in any one style or genre.

Yeah I hear ya, I often question showing certain pieces on DA, totally different art demographic on here then I'm used to.
But every so often I get surprised. There are actually a lot of really great artists and art admirers on this site.
I think the more "fine art" that show on DA the better.
It gives other artists on here a chance to see something they might not know exists.
Anyway, thanks for conversation!
