WORD COUNT: 827 words

PROMPT: Careful, Hunter! It's unknown territory out here! Here is your prompt for Week 3! As your team presses onward, the dense dark undergrowth seemed to get thicker and thicker until you were shouting to your teammates to keep track of their location. Luck seemed to not be on your side as a large leaf you pushed slipped from your grasp and hit you square in the face. As you get up off the ground and rub your eyes you notice you are not quite where you were before. Large cold and cracking brick walls stand tall and twist and turn... you blink your eyes as you realize the area you were once in was now a cold and dark maze. The distressed calls of your teammates let you know they are safe, but are sectioned off from you. A unsure step forward is all you can do, eventually you reunite with your teammates in the middle after a nightmare of dead ends and tight walls."y-you've come..." A feeling of strong loneliness settles upon your team as a large near folk like being about 6 times the size of you walked forward. It's long lanky limbs with their body covered in red pericing eyes greeted you before you jolted upright in a small clearing with your team. In your hands was a dirty golden coin, one side a bundle of tails all knotted and tangled together, the other a crown. Elsewhere, a connection is made and a dream begins. Please submit a reference and ID number of the folk you would like to be selected by a Deep One.

β€” πŸŒ™ β€”

It was a fairly peaceful night, all things considered.

After the excitement of the day’s festivities, all of the other kits had been sent to bed.

But Thundorm couldn’t sleep.

Not because they were scared or upset or anything…

The moon was just really, really beautiful tonight.

Thundorm leaned out of their window, gazing up at the sky. There was the Big Dipper, Ursa Minor… The moon appeared to be Waxing Gibbous now.

It was mesmerizing, the soft light of the moon hitting everything above and below at just the right angle.

Thundorm yawned, resting their head on their paws for just a minute.

They blinked.

They weren’t in the Tree anymore, they realized with a jolt.

Thundorm looked around at their surroundings, trying desperately to figure out where they were.

They floated in the sky, stars twinkling softly all around them.

If they looked close, they could pick out the light of distant planets and moons… planets yet unknown, or planets whose names had been long lost to time.

Just as Thundorm started to relax, they felt like they were falling.

Like a meteor, crashing down to the New World.

They hit the ground, landing in a soft grassy clearing. Around them, hills and mountains pierced the sky, reaching ever higher to claim the stars for themselves.

And in the sky…

The moon, basking all in its beautiful light. Beckoning them, to where… they didn’t know. But it called them, and who were they to ignore it?

Rising to their feet, they began to walk. Try to find their way home, they thought, use the sky as a guide.

They walked for what felt like a thousand eternities, the stars blinking around them. Unfamiliar, newborn stars.

Watching them.

Slowly, they began to give up hope. They hadn’t even left the clearing, those distant spires of stone and foliage always just a little farther out of reach.

Taunting them.

Thundorm whimpered, trying to hold back tears… when suddenlyβ€”

Music… on the wind, like the gentle chiming of bells.

It surrounded them, brushing through their fur like how a parent would comfort a child.

Thundorm looked up, their gaze drawn to the moon.

In the distance, a great beast crested over one of the mountains, slowly approaching them.

Oddly enough… it didn’t feel threatening. The winds sang a lullaby as it approached, gentle and soothing.

It… no, He stopped in front of Thundorm,Β

His halo neatly cradling the moon, as He sightlessly gazed down at the kit.

Thundorm looked at the being, feeling all worry melt away in the glory of His light.

It felt like eternities more as they stood there, taking in each other’s presence..

The winds fell silent, drawing away from Thundorm… before a new song began to play, a song foreign and yet so very, very familiar.

See the stars are glistening

Hear the people whispering…

Β

They didn’t even realize they had begun to sing along until the tune ended, but it seemed He didn’t mind, in fact…

It seemed that it pleased Him quite a bit.

𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 π’˜π’Šπ’•π’‰ π’šπ’π’–π’“ 𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒆, He chimed after a brief interlude, circling the kit delicately, 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 π’Šπ’• 𝒔𝒐 π’’π’–π’Šπ’„π’Œπ’π’š...

They thought for a moment, β€œβ€¦What do you wish of me?” Thundorm asked, watching the Deep One walk around them.

𝑾𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒆 π’šπ’π’–π’“ π’‘π’‚π’”π’”π’Šπ’π’ 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 π’…π’π’Žπ’‚π’Šπ’, π’˜π’† π’ƒπ’†π’π’Šπ’†π’—π’† π’šπ’π’– 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 π’ˆπ’“π’†π’‚π’• π’‘π’π’•π’†π’π’•π’Šπ’‚π’, 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 π’šπ’π’– π’”π’•π’‚π’š π’˜π’Šπ’•π’‰ 𝒖𝒔. Β For just a few moments in time, there was silence.

β€œI accept,” The kit murmured, looking up at the Deep One in wonder.

He Who Sounds Hollow smiled at this, and stopped directly in front of Thundorm, dipping His head down to their level.

π‘½π’†π’“π’š π’˜π’†π’π’, 𝒃𝒆 π’Šπ’• 𝒔𝒐.... He whispered, gently touching His nose to their forehead.
Thundorm closed their eyes, though nothing more than a feeling of pure serenity came to them.

They opened their eyes, and gazed at the stars above them, now twinkling so welcomingly, before their gaze was drawn back to the Deep One, who had begun to walk away.

π‘»π’‰π’Šπ’” π’Žπ’–π’”π’• 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 π’…π’“π’†π’‚π’Ž.. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 π’˜π’† π’˜π’Šπ’π’ π’Žπ’†π’†π’• π’‚π’ˆπ’‚π’Šπ’, π‘²π’Šπ’•. He whispered to them soothingly, 𝑺𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒑 π’˜π’†π’π’... π’˜π’† 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒆𝒆 π’šπ’π’– π’‚π’ˆπ’‚π’Šπ’ 𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒏.

As He strode into the moonlight, Thundorm found themselves feeling light like a cloud, floating and floating and floating and…

They awoke, in the same spot they fell asleep in. But now, the sun was peeking over the horizon, ready to bathe all in its light.

They gazed down at an object they now held in their hand, a strange iridescent crystal, colored like the sky.

They rose to their feet, hiding the crystal under the pillow as they readied for the day.

The new Warlock smiled.

They couldn’t wait!
