But in all honesty, the Xtreme games play a role in the X series timeline despite being underrated & not sorta being mentioned in continuity.
I haven't finished the Rockman series as I got the fan games left. I did finish Threat From Outer Space as Rockman & Blues, minus Forte.
Blues was hard enough on Normal Story Select, no way am I doing Hard Story Select as Blues.
I've been for the record all over the X series out of order because curiosity & eagerness that is playing the X series. So as soon as I finish the deemable Rockman series fan-made games, including Revolution, Rock Force, Super Fighting Robot, Unlimited, & Project Zero (just to name a few), I'll dive right into The Day of Sigma. then Mega Man X. I'd rather want to play in the proper timeline order as it is.
Then sounds like I'd have Starlight Glimmer as Berkana in Rockshy Maximum PART II: Harmony Destroyer...! (Not a real fan-made game.)

Well, only thing I've played before are Revolution & Unlimited, hadn't gotten past Ghostman, & I heard that Revolution is getting a future update...
I may have played a bit of Rock Force too (though I think I'm a bit foggy when it comes to memory recollection), but I think I just beat the intro level...
Other than that, I'd look up any fan-made games on Youtube that'd be worth any good to me *SPOILERS since I too didn't touch these games fully yet*...:
Revolution - As I've been told by KarakatoDzo , it sets sometime in between "8: Metal Heroes (Anniversary Collection Edition)" & "9: The Ambition's Revival", so presumably it'd be set after "& Forte"... I did see the ending about a while back on some extraterrestrials, evil energy, how Wily would take advantage of said Evil Energy (Forte Story Select Epilogue; Though we may never hear it ever again...) Rockman's speculations of the remaining Evil Energy decimated (Rockman's Story Select; I just recently saw this ending.)
Rock Force - I'd set it after "Threat from Outer Space" considering that Knightman & Nitroman reformed to collaborate with the Rock Force, story-wise (since they aren't Wily's original robots more like stolen/reprogrammed/blackmailed by Wily). Looked promising as a game, though Justiceman could've had more potential. So much for a Robot Master to go all full-patriot then revolt only to get wasted, eh Doctor Thomas Right?
Super Fighting Robot - There was no revival of Darkman. It was Wily who somehow apprehended & reprogrammed Blues to cause a revolt against humanity. There could have been anything else but I felt like I just watched something that was left on an anti-climactic predictable note, because what's a Rockman game without Doctor Albert Wily as your typical main antagonist?
Unlimited - You're already familiar with the experimental Zero, aren't you...? At least this is PART I of gaping bridge from the Rockman series to the X series.
Project Zero - .................................................. PART II....................................... You know, Revolution to Unlimited really had their original Robot Masters & Mistresses to call their own, their original backgrounds, music, & 70-99.9% of all enemies are new? Well, Project Zero is none of that (except Zero), for the most part...! This is a fan-made game from Yo-Yo Games. With reprising Robot Masters & Splashwoman, inability to use E-Tanks without crashing the game entirely, and rehashed music turned MIDI. But for it's lack of originality, it has a decent story that soon enough would follow after Unlimited (despite Project Zero is not by MegaPhilX, but by Zigma), & at the end of said story when Blues self-destructs to put Zero into a comatose state (until the X series), Rockman is ........... converted into the Maverick Hunter know & respect, X. Now you gotta wait until Doctor Cain finds finds you. Oh boy, even though Zigma should think that Rockman & X are two different people, but how somewhat-mature the penultimate climax was (seriously, Wily, Forte, & Gospel were killed by Zero), it was a decent engaging story. However, yeah Michael said, 'It needs more polishing.'*
