Description This is the second of a series of Japanese theme images. They're more of a design then they are real portraits. The design efforts show more in this deviation then the first one.

When revisiting this, I realized that it was very a very iconic image, and that I had failed to note that earlier. (Certain of thefantasim's works always bring one back to see more on repeated viewings - a rare situation on DA.)

It is very balanced --beige, green, beige, and the sprinkles of other colors heighten that. It is minimalistic, consistent with much of your best work -- there is neither anything superfluous, nor too little of any material - again, it is quite well-balanced. Hypnotically so. My favorite art director at her best. If I must nitpick, it _might_ be improved by the addition of faint Japanese landscapes - but don't ask me where they would be. There is a hint of mountains already - perhaps that could be enhanced.

I read/listened to Butterfly again, esp the un bel di vedramo aria
[link]
- I translated it - deviously - on dofaust...am becoming cynical....cho-cho san's end was not very disturbing for me....BTW I found more proof the "diva" was real... chatted with a photographer who had given her permission to do a manip on artsig from one of his photos...

I haven't heard Madame Butterfly in a long, long, long time. Thanks for connecting it to this deviation.

We need to talk. Sorry you couldn't call last week. Hope to hear from you soon.

You are simply fantastic with Geishas!!!
your Japanese portraits have the most professional touch!! _How_ did you do the kimono????

My "fav"soprano just recorded Madama Butterfly
- her recordings are always quite mediocre, but her co-singer, with whom she's been an item for 3+ years, is considered one of the best, another
Placido-to-be -- or better... I think that's why she's latched onto him - also he's almost 15 years younger then her.....

I've never seen Madame Butterfly nor have I heard a recording of it. I should look it up now that we can easily do so on the web. And thanks so much for the compliment. The kimono was easy, it was the hair I had so much fun creating!

...and that's kind of why I asked for the re-naming...hahahaha.... cio cio is the main fem part
and has a few good tunes.. I have not listened all the way through for several decades! I never had any patience for the art form in general, even when I was a serious music student....Notice how the _best_ composers did _very_ few operas, one, or no operas at all!! I just like the arias when done by singers with nice voices...)

Would you _please_ consider renaming this beautiful piece to "Anya's Cho Cho San" (or just
"Cho Cho San" ?
