Something I started yesterday to force myself to draw, spent maybe 5 hours total on it. Originally I hadn't intended to put so much detail into it, but I love how it turned out. I'll have to do more crosshatching on toned paper some time later.

The tone and the crosshatching used in this artwork gives it an air of antiquity. I am quite fond of this image of yours, it portrays beautiful balance and design. The head of the serpent is most interesting and incites the imagination, like a creature from an omnibus of fantastic and historic beasts.
