You do realize that it's not just CN, but Genndy himself right? He went to Sony to make some Samurai Jack movie or something.

Though he did go to Sony, and the Samurai Jack movie did finally get greenlighted, he never planned for the show to be sacked. (And he technically didn't move anyway. He worked with several places, really.)
Genndy actually wanted to finish the series, but CN denied him that because of toy sales. So now he's working on a short for the priest movie, the Samurai Jack movie, and who knows what else.
I don't think he'd mind finishing the story he really wanted to finish in the first place XD.
