I started on templates before. Those I just don't submit anymore because I don't know who these templates belong to. I mainly use those for designing costumes. I later just traces over photos of myself. I eventually learned to draw from scratch, then go over it on the computer if the drawing wasn't decent enough on its own.

I know. When you're new at a style or art in general. It is best to use templates to get used to it. Even if it's just a photo of you posing.

It's how I started. Then drawing human proportions came somewhat naturally to me. I still use templates to this day but the only ones I use in submissions are those ones from DragonFable Templates. Even then I do alterations to the head shapes. Now profile views are my favourite thing to do in drawing.
