Description
While doing my regular calligraphy, I decided to take a break and do something fun. So, for you jrock fans out there, here is Gackt's full name, done in the elegant, cursive Sousho script.
(Not sure if DA will show it, but the characters are 神威楽斗, and are the ones he uses himself in his fanclub magazines when he does his own calligraphy.)This is clearly a stage name, as I doubt a muscian would be lucky enough to naturally have a name that means something along the lines of "Divine Might"(Kamu/i) and "Made of Music"(Gaku/to).
The stamp is the corner is my artist's mark.

I always thought his name was ' Okabe Satoru ' ss indicated, or Gakuto Oshiro. .w. Either way, great work, very talented with caligraphy.

Well, the way I wrote it, 神威楽斗, is how he signs his own calligraphy works in the Dears fanclub magazines (which I have physical copies of, so it's not second-hand information).
As I said, it's probably his stage name because it's a little too perfect to be a musician's birth name.

No problem. It's a common reaction to the old, traditional Sousho style as it bears very little resemblance to the print Kaisho or semi-cursive Gyousho styles. Even many modern Japanese have trouble reading old scrolls, as they were largely written in Sousho, the standard of the day for communication, and have to study the style before being able to read it.

I agree with Omega-Werewolf, it does look like music. The second character actually looks a lot like a bass clef and the last character looks like a "4" from a "4/4" time signature.

I think it fits him rather well for a stage name. It shows how much confidence he has in himself. :]
I read somewhere that his birthname was Gackt Oshiro, though I can't be too sure. His father was a musician, I'm pretty confident that his first name is Gackt just by that fact alone. ^_^

There's a lot of theories about his real name, but the one I've done is definitely the one he uses for himself publically (and in his fanclub magazines, for example, where I first learned it.

Ah, I just learned of Gackt! I first heard of him by the song 'Redemption' in the game dirge of cerberus, and I loved it! He's now my second favorite artist.

Calligraphy (asian calligraphy especially) is such a beautiful art form ^^ I wish I could do it. I guess that's an incentive to try and learn to read/write kanji :3
