Description When it came to doing illustrations for Pinocchio my brief was quite simple: create pieces that complement the original book and avoid any "disney-esque" trappings. Although the disney film is beautiful it bears very little relation to the original book, which in parts is very dark and macarbre. This piece shows Pinocchio having been hung by the fox and the cat (now that didn't appear in the Disney version!).

Ah, it is nice to see someone else who is familiar with the book. So few are--not saying anything bad about the film--it's good, too, but the book is quite good, as well.

I love the book - just think it's sad that nowadays few people are really familiar with the original story. I much prefer it!

I love the angle of this piece, it gives it a twisted feeling...

Thank you - I wanted to try and approach things from a different perspective and the angle really helps. Strangely enough, the "model" for the piece was a full sized puppet of pinocchio that I made.

The disney film is cute but has very little in common with the source material which I think is far superior and imaginative! Thanks for the comment!

Indeed, it is grimm. I remember I did a drawing of this scene too, long ago.
