Honestly, even as someone who vaguely who Markiplier is, I couldn't tell from this that it was him, and can still appreciate the art and characters interacting. Just wanting to make sure you didn't feel singled out or anything, cause I was thinking the same thing you were.

So yeah you won't understand these characters if you don't know them.

Although the art shows his girlfriend and his alter-ego, but tbh I don't know if I help you or not.
