Description
Backround: The spad xiii made its combat debut in 1917 and was one of the best if not the best french fighter aircraft in wwi. The Spad was based on the spad VII which was also the base for the mighty spad XII wich had a big 37 mm cannon. As soon as the spad was available it was flown into combat and was a total succes. It was very fast for its time,reaching 222 km/h and was quite maneuvrable. Pilots fond the spad xiii a reliable aircraft and it also had good visibility. Armed with 2 7,7 mm machine huns, the spad was a deadly opponent. Over 8000 were built and many aces flew the spad xiii. Not only the french used this biplane, also the americans flew the spad with great success. Eddie rickenbakker,an american ace flew the spad xiii too.
The spad replaced the older nieuport fighters in the squadrons it was used in and it was found to be one of the most formidable aircraft of the first world war.
The model. Its a small 1/72 revell model kit
Detail: Not very good, the cockpit only contains a pliot. The engine looks nice therefore.

Fitting. I had no problems with fitting

Functions: The functions are great, the prop spins and the wheels are movable but its extremely hard to make them move as you can easily glue them together by accident.

Decals. As always very nice,typical revell quality
