Description You maybe remember this model kit [link]
At that time it was one of my best ones, but today it si one of many that look in my opinion bad, because I was using enamels a that time and no aqua colours. So this ki was already standing in the cellar wher all my bad models are and as I needed parts for my ta 183 I broke up several old kits to cannibalize parts . My old Horten 229 was one of those, and this one as well to get an instrumental board that fits. In the process the kit was completely destroyed, you could say it was literally scrapped. And of course I wanted a replacement, I wanted an awesome looking "cannon bird". Thats why i bough the kit again and the result looks fantastic, it ranks up as one of my best kits in my collection

Backround: As the war progressed, the once invincible and terror bringing stuka became more and more vulnerable. Although rugget, it was slow and not very maneuvrable. Without fighter protection, the stukas had very few survuval chances against enemy fighers. To improve the Ju 87 B, it was developed into the model D which featured a more powerful Jumo 211 J engine, extended wings and a new, more aerodynamic cowling and a more aerodnyamic canopy. This gave the Ju 87 a topspeed of now 409 km/h. Tough this was a significant improvement, it still wasnt enough. Ju 87s were now withdrawn from front line service if they were without fighter protection. But there were other uses for the Ju 87. The once deadly dive bomber now got new missions, as an equally deadly ground atack aircraft. This resulted in the model G, a heavily armed ground attack variant of the Ju 87 D-3 and D-5. These were named Ju 87 G1 and G2. They were stripped from their diving equipment, the sirens were also taken off and the bomb hardpoints were removed as well. Instead, 2 deadly 37 mm cannons with 6 rounds each were added under the wings. These were enough to penetrae the roof of every enemy tank. The sturdy design of the Ju 87 was ideal for carrying that weapon and soon, this tank buster version became one of the most deadly tank destroyers of the eastern front. Over 200 were built or converted from older ju 87 Ds. The successes quickly brought the Ju 87 G some nicknames in which are well known till today: These include Panzerknacker(tank buster) büchsenöffner, Kanonenvogel(cannon bird) or stuka mit den langen stangen(stuka with the long poles). The las Ju 87 Gs were manufactured in 1944, when nearly all companies switched to fighter production due to the worsening war conditions. The Ju 87 G s were however used till wars end with great success. With that, the once outdated dive bomber, found a role, in which it was just as deadly and in which it could operate again with great success till wars end. German panzer and ground troop were very thankful to the airmen who supported them with close air support against the overwhelming soviet tank force. The schlachtgeschwader which operated these tank buster stukas sometimes had to fly several missions a day which could meant that a stuka attacked, flew back to refuel and immediately went back into action. Hans Ulrich Rudel, the highest decorated german soldier of wwii is the most famous stuka ace. In his Ju 87s he destroyed all in all 519 soviet tanks and was even able to destroy a russian warship . This guy was so tough and bolt, that even after loosing a leg as he crashed with his plane, he stood up and was soon ino the air again.

The model kit: This is an older kit from revell which they now produce again. It is in 1/72 and costs 9,99€
Detail: The molds are older and show some flash on some parts. The detail isnt great but acceptable. The included engine is not very well detailed. The cokpit looks ok. The cannons look good as do the wheels
***
Fitting: I had nearly no problems with he kit. There are some small gaps here and here but really not much
****
Functions: Great ones. The prop is movable, the cowling can be removed to show the engine and the wheels are movable as well
*****
Decals: As I exspect it from revell, the decals are awesome and of very good quality
*****
Extrapoints: An aweosme kit of an awesome plane. It is surely one of the most badass versions of the ju 87 and also one of the best known. The guns look awesome and that gives a big sympahy bonus , because I love planes with guns.
*****
Fazit: while it is probably not the ultimate ju 87 G, it is a very good kit all inall. The detail is not the greatest but still looks good and even out of the box looks good. It is a very satisfying solution who wants ju 87 G because it has a low prize and for that prize you really get a good kit. I would build it any time again and can only recommend the kit. The kit is also suited for beginners with its few parts and good fitting
