Poor Loki. Its pretty clear he didn't have good enough social skills to have long lasting, intimate relationships with anyone. Thor's friends probably didn't really think of him as much as a friend either, just someone they have to hang out with when they hang out with Thor.

I feel bad for Loki. Even though he's a villain, all he wanted was acceptance and love deep down.

See, I didn't get that impression of Loki in the first movie. He seemed like one of the gang, just always second to Thor.

I am in agreement with your fascination. It is amazing how many women so empathize with someone who is basically a mass murderer.

The thing is, that before he is mass murderer *And i don't know if you are talking about the Jotun or humans*, he is a complex man that mainly tried to get approval from his own father. Approval that was refused to him all his life and he grew more and more desesperate for it. Actually if there is somebody to blame, it's Odin.

Thank you for the comment.
With regards to Loki, I would disagree. He is responsible for his actions and in the movies (and in most of the comics) he is a villain of the first order. Nothing can justify his actions. Having a bad childhood doesn't justify murder.
What I find fascinating is how many women find him attractive. Now liking Tom Hiddleston as an actor I can see. Or having some harmless fantasy escapism about the bad boy who just needs to be loved, during a movie I can also understand. But the extend and depth of the attraction to Loki by so many women is a bit disturbing, especially when some of them try to justify his actions. In the movie, the only difference between Loki and Hitler is that Loki is good looking.

Yes He is reponsible of his actions. But actions always have something behind them. An answer to something more deep. You don't try to conquer the earth for nothing. You have something to prove, you want to make a point.
Of course, Tom Hiddleston is an attractive man. And his accent, charming. The clothing design is cool too. But i find the fact that you compare Hitler to Loki don't surprise me. It was even done in the Avengers after all. For me, the reason i'm curious about Loki is because of his past. But first of all let's see your comparative with Hitler.
Before being a Hitler, he was a man. An man with dreams too. *And i'm not saying that what Hitler or any killers did is good! Hell no, it was terrible and i can't excuse him for it. In no way i am ok with killing.* But i can, or at least try, understand how his story created the path to the horror.
Hitler wanted to be an artist. He was a kid. He liked to be the boss and playing cowboy againt indians like any little boys.
They are human *or asgardian in this case*
It's the situations that twist individuals. Bad decisions. It's when you prefer to kill numberless people just to make you point. Yes they are responsible, but it's also the fault of their time, of the people around them. Everything around shape you. Also we have to remember that at that time... nobody like the jews. I mean, even canada refused to open their barrier for them. Canada. Yes canada that allow everybody in. No point for killing people, but also it kinda resume how they were perceived. I mean, 60 years before WW1, germany did another extermination in Africa, but nobody remember it. So Hitler was the symptom of a desease in the society. Not the desease himself. Us, the Humanity didn't want to see if it was our fault, so we've put it on the back of one man. But if nobody followed that man, he would never had the power to do all that.
Hitler was shaped by the texts of Jorg Lanz von liebenfels, by his own catastrophic situation *no money, the school that refuse him* and by his friends.
Maybe you can see the parallel with Loki who was brought with stories that the frost giants are monsters and try to take over Asgard, the fact that he his ridiculised for his magic and the general situation he is in.
Anyway, i think the main reason why girls can overlook the fact he killed people is that... It's not real. nobody suffered. Nobody lost a father, a mother a brother or anybody to him. The only death people weren't able to excuse him was Coulson death and Bam, he's alive, not a scratch
I don't know what else to add. Maybe because we saw his past and his current actions still make us see that he is ''human'', something we are unable to do with for example, Hitler. Since we only see him as a monster who killed over millions and millions. We see somebody with his mustache and it shock everybody.
Loki, is in a form of amusement. We see him, nobody is hurt, he make us smile with his wits and in the end, we only have a good feeling of the situation.

Thank for such an extensive reply! It is always a pleasure to chat with someone so thoughtful and intelligent.
I guess there are several different thoughts going on here at the same time.
First, to find the the study of a historical, or fictional, character interesting I can completely understand, no matter whether the personal was evil or not. For the study of the history of Nazi Germany, or to do a psychohistorical analysis of Hitler, can be very interesting. Neither of which I would complain about. To study evil, in the right context, can be very useful. To try and understand what made a Hitler is profitable, but those factors could never excuse his actions.
Second, as I said before, finding an evil fiction character attractive can be quite harmless, if one takes it for what it is. I myself as a children found Maleficent and the Evil Queen from "Snow White" very attractive, much more so than the good princesses. And I can completely understand why women find Tom Hiddleston sexy. My original comment was about an interest at the extent and depth of the appeal of the Loki as a romantic figure as portrayed in the films. Especially, when such noble characters, such as Captain America, are usually met with apathy and ridicule. If the "Avengers" movie was played in the 1950's would there be such a similar reaction?
One Loki fan I chatted with made the argument that one reason many women find him so attractive is that he is seen as a wounded soul that is lashing out at the world in anger. This plays into a particular female fantasy that the handsome bad boy could be redeemed if he was just loved. Though this borders on pop-psychology, it was insightful.
Thank again for your response.
