Description Not sure if he just ate something or this is a pregnant one!!! Sunny himself on the pile of brush which was left from last fall, and has now grown. But it is also home to some critters I think!!
I was trying to get a shot of his tongue, but he was too quick!

Very cool capture. I love snakes too. When I was 19, I spent a summer with a carnival and was a snake handler. It was a lot of fun!

Well I don't know, it depends on how wide an area he needs to live on. These snakes (garter snakes, we also call grass snakes) don't lay eggs, but have live babies...could be 75or more of them!! I'm glad you like this guy!!! No the smiles are not very different!!

I thought garter snakes were green! Oh god... I'm picking up snakes from the backyard and I don't even know what they are!

Well honestly you should find out what they are, before picking them up. I know there are rattlers in Texas. And I think garter snakes can be also green. We have the two colored ones here.

oh I know a rattler when I see it. I killed a few 4 foot black snakes living under the porch but we mostly have small grass snakes here coming from the neighbors jungle of a backyard!
