Description
Oil paint on paper A4
starting blank and without reference The paper was prepared by folding certain sections for the tree trunks. Afterwards the folded sections were rubbed in by an semi-dry brush to fill in the dark sections of the painting to reveal the imperfections of the page.
Next I followed the natural contours and grain of the page with the smallest brushstrokes possible to create layered effects on the leaves and smaller particles within the forest.
A large variety of brushstroke techniques were implemented to detract from a monotonous setting.
Colour was a subject of experimentation in this piece too.
I had limited myself to only the colours available from old pallets used in previous paintings thus the paint was at different stages of drying, making it malleable and more opaque.
