Well... usually, I scan in Black and White, which makes the lines clearly defined, and you could pretty much use the fill tool to color it in ms Paint. After that, I'd erase the edges the insides and outsides of the lineart, so It looked brushed, not penciled (for lack of better term.)
But while working on Reefmon, All I did was erase the Whites (using Magic Eraser in Photoshop) in the linearts, And then Blacken the lineart, andoutstanding whites inside the lineart. And Then, the edges looked black in the middle, but grey on the ousides. So, I used Gaussian Blur, at (.3)and it made it look brushed, and then I fixed the thin edges.
