I wish I could send a message
Furled inside a bottle to sea
To be found by the perfect hero
Who, I confess, is imaginary

And as always, logic interrupts
Caring to spoil the reverie
After all, there is no hero
Plus I’m landlocked – there is no sea

I wish I could feel love
Perhaps first sight will do
We’d gaze, our hearts in sync
His eyes saying ‘I love you’

But who would this ‘he’ be?
The boy who’ll claim my heart?
He doesn’t exist, he’ll never exist
So he’s ripping my story apart

I wish I’ll meet the one
Of course, it’ll happen by fate
And at that cue there’ll be music
So I’ll know he’s my soul mate

But who will play the music?
Otherwise I’ll never know
So I suppose, just in case
I’ll take a radio wherever I go

I wish I could dream stories
Without logic kicking in
Without my hero vanishing
So that my story may properly begin
