Description I hope you guys didn't forget about Bullet... because she remembers you!

Finally got around to drawing her again, and this time I made a couple changes to her design (most notably the hair).

You can check out the original sketch I did here: [link]

Nice job man! Was this done directly from the sketch? IT looks like you did a awesome job cleaning up the line work.

Thanks! What I will usually do is turn the opacity of the layer that the sketch is on down to about 10 or 15% and then trace the line art cleanly on a layer above it. For that part I might use Illustrator or Painter's ink pen tool to get the lines really clean and almost vector-like. The only problem with this is that the character may come out looking a little chubbier than in the original sketch because the lines have gotten a lot thinner.

Because of this there are times when I will just stay in Photoshop and keep reworking the sketch, erasing and cleaning the lines until I think it's just right, like in this picture: [link] The lines are still a little rough around the edges if you look closely, but it's not that big of a problem .

ooh! i love! the colouring in particular looks great! good job on the background too: accents the image, but isn't distracting what so ever.

again, good job!

The coloring I did here was done largely in the same way I did page 23 of SMK. If you use clipping masks shading is a snap

That's good to hear (though it's more like that's all I *could* do ). I'm not that great with backgrounds and such, so I'll usually have to play around with gradients and other tools if I don't want to totally screw up the picture It may just be that I never plan for a background... if I'm going to do one I'll have to start sketching it from the beginning I guess.

Thanks, Durithyll!

Bullet...while not given as much exposure as say someone like Sakia, is not easily forgettable. In fact, she's quite memorable--someone who has distinctive personality and the attitude bold enough not to be afraid of showing it off. Here, you've captured her to the extreme. Clever implementation of textures and such amp your familiar Oekaki style up to the next level, enriched with plenty of dynamics to boot.

Fantastic work all around Nookie, can't deny that I'm rather proud of how far you've come since you introduced yourself to NSider2 and the dA community. Keep it up bud.

That's a good way to describe her Bullet's definitely got a more straightforward personality compared to my other characters (of the ones I've shown so far).

I'm glad the small details are noticed, thanks!

Yeah, it's been quite a while. One thing I hope to be able to do to make better art is simply to have more patience. I feel like I have to finish a drawing quickly sometimes (or that "it shouldn't take me so long to do this"), but I know that's not how good art is made...
