The last time I tried taking a closeup of one of these guys he leapt onto the lens (and altogether too close to my face). They are funny looking spiders and not intimidating in the least. This is a fantastic picture, I've never seen two of them in the same place before.

This deserves WAY more comments... It's gotta' be one of the most impressive spider shots I've ever seen. It seemed too cute to be real, but I was amazed to find that it was a real photo.

I HATE these spiders... but when you get close to them, they just look so carefree! ^^ This is such a great shot! How close where you really that they didn't get scared and jump away? Your focus is incredible.

Thanks for changing my mind about those little guys!

Ha, it looks like a couple. I love that they are both off kilter just a bit, resting on the grain! Very beautiful, you can really see the personality here!

WOW, cute umm... Not the spiders themselves, but what they're doing.

How do you shoot these "Jumping Spiders", what if they jump at you. xD Scary thought.

And this is why, when we were little, we called jumping spiders "look-at-you-spiders"! These two seem intensely focussed on you...

What is that brown thing between them, anyway?

Tamyl91 In reply to 1incubus [2009-03-23 21:45:59 +0000 UTC]

No, jumping spider can't bite a human being

1incubus In reply to Tamyl91 [2009-03-26 19:25:20 +0000 UTC]

Why, is it too shy?

Manyura-the-Manyula In reply to 1incubus [2010-04-17 11:55:33 +0000 UTC]

Nyehehe! The jumping spider is a curious little arachnid. When you point your finger near it, it will turn to face you. It might raise it's forelimbs to stand it's ground, but it's not likely to bite. You could even try to pick the little guy up. He might jump back, but he certainly won't bite.

centime In reply to Tamyl91 [2009-03-25 04:05:11 +0000 UTC]

No, jumping spiders are not dangerous. They only bite if defending themselves, like anything would. I have jumping spiders and have had them on me. They don't bite (although they can). They are tiny spiders with excellent vision, and jump to catch their prey rather than making a web. They are wonderful critters.

And what a remarkable and excellent photo! You couldn't have gotten a better arrangement if you had posed the little guys.

Excellently done.
