Summer 2004.Japan, Hiroshima Ken, Miyajima Island.
A nice big "tori" (the red stuff) come out of the sand, and during high tide is in the middle of the sea...
Nice.
Weather was terrible difficult shooting...

I love the way the red jumps out of the dreary gray background. I know bad weather makes for difficult shooting conditions, but this photo wouldn't have worked half as well if it had been sunny out.

I definitely like the red. It's so striking; very bold and bright against the dreary grey sky and fainter colors of the trees and ground.
The structure itself just looks awesome...I love how the pillars connect to make that shape. Not only that, but the reflection in the water is nice as well. Double the fun or something.
It's nice because the reflection isn't perfect or terribly sharp, but a bit broken up by the shallow parts in the puddle. I think the imperfection is what helps make it perfect, if that makes any sense.
I definitely get a 'rainy day' feel from this.
