Minamoto no Yoshitsune 源義経(1159 – June 15, 1189) was a general of the Minamoto clan of Japan in the late Heian and early Kamakura period. Yoshitsune was the ninth son of Minamoto no Yoshitomo. Yoshitsune's older brother Minamoto no Yoritomo (the third son of Yoshitomo) founded the Kamakura shogunate. Yoshitsune's name in childhood was Ushiwakamaru 牛若丸.I quoted it from wiki.

I love Yoshitsune and shizuka 静御前.
Yoshitsune is famous hero in japan.
Shizuka is his mistress, and a famous shirabyoushi.
Shirabyoushi is a high-level prostitute who disguises oneself as a
man, sings, and dances.
It is said that the shrine maiden is an origin, and to
dance to offer the invocation to the god at times.
Two people in comics "masurao" which Taku Kitazaki drew are particularly good.

Aaah I <3 you so much for painting this very traditional couple! I've only ever seen Shizuka portrayed in aka-hime but this is a really wonderful take on her! Also, isn't Yoshitsune so dashing

Amazing picture, I first found out about Yoshitsune while researching the history around the time of a book I wrote. He's now one of my heroes, I just wish he had a better brother
