The plane in the foreground is a Mitsubishi G3M Nell. the battleship in the background is the HMS Prince of Wales. the attack on Force Z happened on December 10th, 1941 in the South China Sea. In the battle the British Battleships HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse were sunk by twin prop engined torpedo and high level bombers. the loss of the two battleships was for Prime Minster Winston Churchill the biggest shock he had during world war II.Related content

Yup! This is a Mitsubishi Nell. As always, the Japs went for range in their bombers. No pilot armor & no self-sealing fuel tanks. This always got them in trouble.

Very nice, though technically the Repulse was a battlecruiser.
