Description Acrylic and impasto medium on flat canvas board.

Many, many hours of work went into this. I wanted to recreate the image of the Black Madonna with my own interpretation. The most important aspect of my painting is to breathe new life into my work. I prayed as I worked, I spoke to Her and my heart beat with love and admiration. I shed tears of joy, sorrow, happiness, as my life continued on around this painting.

My only concern is that the way in which I painted Her eyelashes may be viewed as too modern. It was an idea I had that I just went with as I wanted to do something that would somehow enhance Her great beauty without overstepping it too much.

I am never more in tune with art and my subject as when I paint religious imagery. It's just the depth of my faith and my heartbeat of devotion that is who I am which causes the grace of God to take over as I work.

May all who view this work be filled with Her grace and Her strength to overcome everything with the gift of rock solid faith.

Read the description. The icon has a history and called such for a reason

I love the vivid colors and the traditional icon style. But it has your artistic signatures too, making it all the more beautiful.

Something I love about your work (and one reason why I find myself needing to comment on everything) is that I can see your passion, love, and faith reflected in each painting. You are a wonderful artist, and I love how you appreciate and use your gift

Truly remarkable words of which I feel deeply humbled. How gracious and kind you are about my work and my love for my subjects. That's why I decided to focus my art on religious work (for which I remain most known and commissioned for) and also my progressing Equine art...

I try very hard to make my art rise above and beyond many other artists...my mentors both tell me I have a rare gift to put real soul into my artworks...I find that incredibly moving that I am capable of such a rare ability. I thank our beloved God for each every one of the talents He blesses me with and I work hard to do what I can with them

Really? Wow, it always amazes me what works of mine people are most drawn to or feel the most connection with...and this one rather surprises me actually. But I'm so glad! I think She's rather beautiful but I'm bias...I love Our Lady!

What is the "Black Madonna"? Btw...love this image. I love your religious art. I have a dream of one day doing art that is religious or has pro-life messages. I don't have time right now though. You'r work is very inspiring.

This link: [link] will tell you the history behind the original image of Our Lady of Czestochowa, also referred to as the Black Madonna.

Very happy to hear that you like my religious work. It's what I'm best at really. Thank you for finding me and for stopping by

Yes, that was what I wanted to achieve. I was deeply moved by the original image that I saw but wanted to shape it into something more contemporary and perhaps more relatable for more people today.

Thank you for the fav and for stopping by, I very much appreciate it.

Hello and thank you for such a lovely comment. I take commissions quite often but have not sought to exhibit my work as yet for two reasons, I have devoted my time to a lot of study first and also to keep my commissions to a managable intake.

Thank you for asking

Your welcome. Your work is very beautiful. What do you usually charge for comissions?

I work in 3 different media upon request, graphite, acrylic and oils thoguht oils are new and I only started working with those as a client payed me to buy a set of oils to paint their portrait. I was quite humbled by their generosity. I'm not a fan of oil as I'm too use to the rapid drying time of acrylic but if someone is patient enough to wait for an oil painting and pay what it worth then I will do so.

Geez, narrowing down my price range depends on the medium used, size and detail so it's not as easy as a list of usual pricings. I know many artists do that but I prefer to work one on one with a client.

As an example though my prices go from about $100 for about an 8" x 10" pencil portrait up to around $2000 for a large painting of around 24" x 30" with no more than two figures in the painting. More detail takes more time and costs more.

Hope this helps.
