Thanks! That's what happens when I don't get to travel...put a tower on it, and I automatically call it a castle.

Thanks again for the wonderful photos!

Heh he I'll let you off though monastries are something completely alien to Americans .. you know what castles are but the whole concept of corporate religeon in a medieval sense is something I don't think you guys really comprehend

Which is unfortunate, really...considering what we've ended up with now. Makes me wonder if we would've avoided the corporate theocracy better if we had more of it in our past to try and learn from. But then again, that would require us to be able to learn from the past...

No I think the whole "corporate religion" thing had run its day ... most of Europe over turned the thinking in a generally small period of time, Henry VIII started it off I'd say with his dissolution of the monastries, Followed by the scottish Reformation, The French followed suit with its wars of religion and it sorta spread ... monastisism sorta survived in pockets in places and grew to a new order but it was never the same the church would never ever regain its old power, even in the times of Victoria and her whole "God fearing people" it still didn't have its strangle hold on the society as it did in medieval times, the church rules by fear and oppression in the 1800's by ignorance and illitracy in medieval times ... I have my own take on the whole "religion is the root of all evil" but thats my opinion and I am sorry if people dont agree its not effecting you ... But what ever your stand point on it there are some bloody good factual stories to be had .. even just following the trials and tribulations of one monastic house or how medieval religion grew and how it effected european/middle east politics, the crusades, the links between England and the continent (Especially Franch) how the rot set in and spread across our continent .. the historical links that still survive today etc ... its worth jumping on Wikipedia and just picking up one thread of one subject connected with my gallery and then following the web from there .. english monachy etc is a really wonderful tory or intreague, back stabbing scullduggery and muurder .. and a lot of the tim differeing religions and power bases are behind them .. not just borders and the like

Afraid most of what I know of medevil power plays I got mostly from reading Shakespeare.

The right-wing religious power plays of America compare nothing to the power of the Church of England in its hey-day, I am sure.

Well its more catholic that the church of england that was the power behind the thrown .. the C-of_E is the lil noisy upstart of a kid that kicked all the stuff into touch :S

Me too, actually...it's just that she recently picked up a Cloak of Arachnidia during our game, so I figured I'd do my best to represent it.

I started off with a grey fill, then took a transparent gif of a spider web and pasted it onto the cloak in a few places. Then I took the Antimatter and Aetherize filters to it, and voila', spider cloak!
