Description
Hi, here's a WOF OC! Her name's Mimosa(after a kind of plant), and she's a hive - leaf hybrid!
Minor spoilers for book 11 and onward of the Wings of Fire trilogy:
She was conceived when a hivewing patrol guard sent into the jungle met a leafwing from the sapwing village and they fell in love. The leafwing mother didn't want Mimosa to grow up in the poison jungle and so she gave her to the hivewing father to raise. He took her to the Jewel hive to raise her, where he kept her hidden for the most part. If she ever went out, she dyed her scales a sort of orange colour and wore lots of jewelry to pass herself off as some kind of eccentric hivewing. Eventually though, the hivewings found her out, and she was taken before queen wasp. Now the hivewings were struggling to grow plants of their own, so queen wasp saw some use in having a leafwing. As a sort of experiment(since she figured out she was half hivewing), she injected her with her tail stinger directly behind her forehead to see if she could control her, and it worked, though only partially. While queen wasp could control her, she could break free of her control with enough willpower. Though Mimosa was too scared to try this.
Currently, she's trapped in a secret garden in Wasp Hive, slaving away in tending to the plants.
In terms of abilities, Mimosa has a sort of limited one-sided leafspeak. As in, she can sense plants, but she can't send messages to them. This somewhat aids her in her gardening abilities, as she can sense which plants need more water and sunlight. Though it also gives her another ability: the ability to telepathically send messages to other dragons under the control of queen Wasp. Though for the most part, she doesn't use this ability because she is afraid of what queen Wasp would do if she found out that she can do this. In addition to limited leafspeak, she also has paralytic wrist stingers, though she was always so afraid of using them that she doesn't know if they even work.
She's quite proud of her wings because her father frequently told her that they're beautiful.
