Out, damn'd spot! out, I say!—One; two: why, then
'tis time to do't.—Hell is murky.—Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier, and
afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our
pow'r to accompt?—Yet who would have thought the old man to
have had so much blood in him?
[MACBETH - ActV, Sc.1 - W.Shakespeare]

One of my Favourite Shakespeare Female Character: Lady Macbeth. She plotted the assassination of King Duncan at the beggining of the play with her husband who inherits the Kingdom of Scotland and makes her his Queen.
In spite of her looking ambitious, strong, remorseless and unflappable, she eventually falls into madness, sleepwalking, and trying to wash her hands soiled with blood...

Maybe I'll be drawing Ophelia next time... to start a collection of Shakespeare characters portraits!

The colors, her expression, the little bit of reaching for the crown... This is so gorgeous~

I've had a soft spot for Lady Macbeth since one time where we were assigned characters to memorize a monologue for in my acting group.

Her expression is breathtaking. And it goes perfectly with the verses you chose. Also, the nearly overwhelming presence of red in your drawing further emphasizes the whole composition.

(I just thought of Lady Macbeth as being rather older, if I recall my reading of the play correctly. Or maybe I'm just mistaken. Could be.)

Random note: the crown like this made me think of the cover of the latest Arden's edition of Richard II.

Your comment is very interesting, I had never seen the crown you were mentionning, but that makes me thing I actually can't wait to find a moment to watch the series about Richard III. The one with Ben Wishaw and Tom Hiddleston. It looks great, maybe you've watched it already.
I appreciate your remarks ,they really motivate me into doing something better next time Thank you

Thank you - and you are most welcome. *hugs*
Actually, it was just the drawing on the cover - furthering the image of the 'hollow crown' in Richard II.
I see which series, it's 'The Hollow Crown'. It's absolutely brilliant - yes, I've watched it. Ben Whishaw is great as Richard II - in fact, the entire cast is worth it.

No problem at all, I am looking forward seeing more from you in the Shakespearian department - but not only. Keep up the great work!

I studied Macbeth for my Literature course. It's a really intriguing novel/play... particularly because it shows that ambition can lead to the downfall of someone who was once noble and well loved among others.
Lady Macbeth was always one of my favourite characters mainly because of her downfall, she was once ambitious and proud only to fall into insanity because of the acts she 'forced' her husband to commit.

Really beautiful artwork *.* I think it captures Lady Macbeth's horror during that scene

Lady Macbeth is truly one of the greatest Shakespeare characters, and this portrait looks fantastic! The smoky red hair was a beautiful touch.

Wow!
