A very beautiful portrait. There is some unrest in this wilderness, and at the same time a quiet presence. And the lips are gorgeous. Congratulations

The narrow DoF softens the picture but the face skin is too sharp, does not do credit to the model's complection (The make up may be to blame here).
Your humble student.

Effective lighting--a reflector on the right might have made the eye on the shadow side a little more visible--making the eye more balanced and less askew than it now appears.

Superb job of lighting this one Kevin..just enough light on the shadow side of her face..particularly the eye and hair. You consistently find striking looking models, and then you do fantastic things with your lights and camera..great work.

I love the casual feel to this, almost as though she's rolled out of bed and you're catching her unawares (we should ALL look that good when we wake up, right??) - I'm loving the simple top she has on, and that it's not knit, but thin cotton, with small straps. It looks so comfortable and has a sweetness to it.
I wish her expression were a little more inviting. She doesn't look exactly pleased to have her photo taken, necessarily. I love love the lighting in this, especially on her face. It's perfect to lose that half of her face to shadow. She's got gorgeous lips, and I love the light touching on that area between lips and nose, whatever those little lovely dips are called. Very nice!

Light her with a rembrandt or loop.
The way shes split lit right now makes her features look manly-er than they really are.
Of course if this is what you were going for then its fine, its all very subjective anyhow.

ooh i gotcha. i know those patterns but didn't know their names. i usually try a few different setups when shooting something like this. i liked this lighting on her. it's what suited this situation the best, and matched the mood i was trying to achieve.

yeah I figured you were going for some dramatic lighting, and what better way to show it off than a split. Personally I wouldve gone with the rembrandt, the split just carves her face out in a peculiar way. Cool shot though, I'm curious as to see what the other lighting setups you used and how they came out.
