Description Day 2. Darkended some features to add depth and little more realism. more hair was finished (what a pain in the ass).made some of the highlights lighter and the shadows darker... think it really brings her to life. Still trying to breath life into the image.

WORK IN PROGRESS!!! This is my rendition of Kahlan Rahl from the Sword of truth series of novels from Terry Goodkind. I've been a fan for a while and have actually gotten a couple of my friends into the series. I'm actually hoping to get Mr. goodkind onboard with me and allow me to do a series images for him but i think that might just be a pipe dream. At any rate, I'm actually really happy with the way this one it working out. HB, 2B, 6B, 8B graphite in my sketchbook.

***I'm posting as i work, so you can check the different stages of developement of this pic in my gallery.

WOW! Amazing! Do you draw it just like that ( like from a mental image ) or do you have a model, picture, etc? No matter which-absolutely stunning!

This is the closest anyone's fanart has come to how I vision Kahlan... and not just that... this is a remarkable piece of artwork. I look forward to seeing the final piece!

really... this woman looks amazing! Not quite what I had in mind when I think of Kahlan Rahl... But very close. I didn't imagine Kahlan to look so ravishing beautiful!

This is definately Richard's vision of Kahlan... My god the beauty of her! I think you might need to rework her lower right-side (our left) of her lower Jaw... perhaps shade a bit differently. She definately has some strong facial structures that would suggest the strong personality to go along with it!!!!

I wonder what you would could do with Nikki? Actually, I hope so see you do a head-shot of Richard in this same style. I want to see someone actually correctly draw those Eyes of his.

Do you plan to do each of the main characters in this sort of way? If so, I tip my hat to you, sir. You have outstanding talent, and it is a pleasure to witness even a handful of it!

well, thank you for the kind words. I have purposefully left the chin unfinished cause i'm not really sure how i want to dress her yet. i was thinking about putting her in her confessors dress, but then i thought the wolf hide mantle would be good too. this is definately a work in progress and a reall labor of love. i'll be updating the image on a dayly bassis (as time and oportunity allows) so check back often. you can watch her "be born".

This is fantastic! Did you have a reference image to go by or is this all from your head?

i started with a referance image to get the features of the face and to make sure i know where the highlights and shadows should go. it was the cover of some expensive photomagazine at the bookstore, i just grabbed it and sat in the coffee shop and built the foundation for the pic. but yesterday, it seems they sold out of the magazine so i'm working off memory and artistic license. one day i hope to be able to work like this without a referance, but till then, i'm just doing pieces like this to study the human form.

Either way its really great! I have yet to totally draw from my imagination. Its hard to get that image to 'stick' LOL

thank you for the compliment. drawing from your mind can be refreshing (and really really frustrating) there are a few pieces in my gallery that were done without a referance, but i find it better to work with one.

well thank you for the kind words. and being a fellow artisit, i'm sure you understand that we can be our own worst critics. i'll prolly be picking at this piece for a very long time to get everything just right.

you're welcome, and yes i do understand... i can't say i've never been tempted to set fire to a "perfectly good piece of work" but don't be too critical you're drawing is amazing.

set fire to, drop kick out a window, take a chainsaw to, run over repeatedly, take in my teeth and shake and chew up like a dog and his chew toy... been there...... almost done that.
