Description Yes, I'm getting closer and closer to my 3D battle scene. This is just a concept shot of the look and feel. I'm really up to it, but I don't have time to do it because of work. So I'll be doing it in the weekends.

2 small robots will destroy eachother!!

Sure, but what's the project about? (just curiosity ) Funky music

EssasMusic In reply to Sunny-GO [2012-11-19 02:28:08 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! No formal project. I make free music loops for people to use in their own projects, as a kind of way to get my name out there. I usually just find a picture that compliments the song for the video, in hopes of catching people's eyes. Nothing fancy.

when can we expect this,or at least an animation prewiew ?

Sunny-GO In reply to adelnovipazar [2011-12-27 12:14:09 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to say, I want to work on it, but I don't have the energy to do it after work. The preparations for the animations are almost complete, but it takes a lot of motivation to start the animation. I'll keep trying though

Ah, I understand I always get my inspiration from old school manga movies like akira, ninja scroll and ghost in the shell

Are you about to graduate? If you're going to start applying for jobs, you'll have some time to do stuff for yourself Or, if you find a job near your house, you can do stuff for yourself more often

Oh cool, now you can experiment what you really want to do Try lots of different stuff!

As for me, I never regretted my choice for animation... >_> I sucked at other stuff lol. And the way I grew up, I was kind of forged into an animator

(second comment) And Sunny, do you have any tutorials or any sites you go to, to learn modelling and rigging techniques?

Do you know where I can get templates or any help? Thanks Sunny, you can PM me the answers to my question if you want.

Sunny-GO In reply to MohanABK [2011-11-22 05:55:09 +0000 UTC]

When I was an intern at some studios,I had acces to 'digital tutor' and 'gnomon workshop' tutorials. But you'll have to pay for those sites.
Alternatively you could just google/youtube stuff you want to know. Nowadays a lot of people upload very good selfmade tutorials

Hey Sunny, just a quick question. (I am going into 3D too, well at least I am trying...)

You use Maya always, right? And I want to know if all the stuff like colouring, lighting, and modelling is done on Maya only? Or do you use other programs to add that stuff?

Thanks a bunch, Sunny. ^^

Sunny-GO In reply to MohanABK [2011-11-22 05:50:57 +0000 UTC]

No, I rendered the image in passes. This means you render shadows, highlight, colors etc seperately. Then you composite it in something like photoshop or after effects.

Cool man, a fellow 3D dude

MohanABK In reply to Sunny-GO [2011-11-22 20:17:29 +0000 UTC]

Ahh thanks Sunny! I'll try to look more into separate renders. I want to incorporate 3D into my 2D animations...

Here is my 2D animation [link] I'll learn 3D so I have implement 3D backgrounds... just like animes

melviso In reply to Sunny-GO [2011-11-21 13:21:42 +0000 UTC]

How is 3d animation going for u?Do you prefer it to when you animate in 2d?For me I can model, uvmap and texture anything. My main problem is rigging and the time it takes especislly for facial emotions. Most of the time,my shoulders and hips don't deform correctly for human models. Its a pain, lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sunny-GO In reply to melviso [2011-11-21 16:22:09 +0000 UTC]

Wel I have more experience in 2D, but the same principals should apply to 3D. The rigging and the workflow of it takes time to learn ofcourse, and there are many ways to achieve a rig. just find one that suits you. Though if you want to learn it the way they do it in studios, you'll just have to become an intern or something.

melviso In reply to Sunny-GO [2011-11-24 14:49:50 +0000 UTC]

Okay,u learnt some of this 3d stuff as an intern before you graduated.I am considering going back to 3d but when I think of the problems that come with running simulations for hair and clothes(most times they don't act the way you want them to after tweaking a lot of parameters),I end up going back to 2d.Is there a way one can calculate these stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sunny-GO In reply to melviso [2011-11-25 10:12:38 +0000 UTC]

I played around with it for a bit, but I'm not good at that either. It's an entire new study in itself I try to simulate clothes and hair the old way. Just rig it with bones or deformers.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

melviso In reply to Sunny-GO [2011-11-28 14:33:12 +0000 UTC]

So you animate cloth and hair manually without simulations?Thats a great idea.

MohanABK [2011-11-17 22:27:22 +0000 UTC]

oh Sunny, I love how you emphasize things by using perspectives and blurs.

This looks like a really dynamic mid-action scene because you blurred the bg so well, and that low angle shows prominence from the other character.

Well done.
