Description
Not really the best from me - what with feeling rusty and no inspiration. Was going for something simple except that it didn't end up being simple/easy to work on.
It was inspired by www.pxleyes.com/photoshop-pict… and will be my last artwork of 2017.
So let me sign it off by dedicating it to all my friends whose birthdays I missed (don't be surprised if for some it's a very late gift xD)
Early dedication to
It has been a mixed year for me but I would like to take of it only the positive, happy memories with me into 2018.
There are so many who have touched my heart with their love, kindness, respect & support and to all those incredible friends, thank you so much for touching my life in ways you never know.
My riches do not lie in material wealth but in having friends like you ALL!

* Vision
I understand that as you started this piece you felt rusty and uninspired but after having a look at what did inspire you... I can say one thing - believe in your imagination! It's very clear that you had an image in your mind that you built upon and with confidence I can say that you executed your idea with great results.
* Originality
I've been lurking the photo-manipulation section of dA for many years and when I first saw this piece I thought it was a drawing - not even going to lie. That being said, I have come across fantasy-like pieces like this in the past but not exactly like yours. It has a unique sense of finesse, emotion, story and atmosphere about it and I love it.
* Technique
At first glance there's something that pops out for me and I truly believe it was intentional. Having a look at all the stock images that you used some of them were sharper (the model) whilst others were softer and I believe you had a solution to make the distinction between reality and dream although I may be looking a bit too deep into it.
Your blending and layering of the photos makes sense to me and there's nothing that warrants attention besides the sharpness of the model but to me that could be the "reality" where everything else is the "dream".
The reason why I took away half a star was because of the shadow work on the feet of the model (the actual shadow on the sand), it needs a bit of further thought. Keep in mind where the light source is coming from as the right foot shadow makes sense to me but the left foot suggests the light source is coming from her right and not the left as the right foot suggests. (let me know the reasoning as it's a tricky placement and I'm not looking at the foreground lighting on the sand as an illuminate source).
Now for the model, flawless! Having a look at the original and comparing it to the end product it's almost black and white. It really did blow me away that you managed change the aesthetic completely by making her dress longer, thinner(?), tips/curls of her hair cleaner and the crown of her hair/head more detailed. Don't even get me started on the colouring and shadows too, it's obvious a lot of time was spent on perfecting her.
Oh and I love the positioning of the butterflies.
* Impact
Let me state the obvious. The colouring is serene! It's what caught my instant attention as I was lurking through the page. I love the dreamy atmosphere and it sparks a sense of thought and imagination for me - like a fairy-tale story.
The imagery with-in the violin is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and I can say the same for the glow/rain effect on the head of the violin. Perhaps I am a sucker for anything of this nature but it really does look great to me, almost alive and tranquil.
* Overall
I believe this piece will serve as a creative catalyst for your future artworks to come and the best part is... you will only improve from this benchmark but word of advice. Don't keep chasing this plateau as you have already conquered it, leave it in 2017 and aim higher in 2018.

I loved how you interpretated the sharpened detail of the model against the softness of the rest of the scene as reality vs dream. Though that's not what I actually intended to show (to me my model seemed very soft and a bit out of focus, hence I added a bit of sharpness on her).
Also I couldn't agree with you more on your pointing out the flaw in the shadows under the girl's feet. Being too pre-occupied I didn't take the time to think of where the shadows should be falling so just painted along the shadows that were on the original stock image.
I normally love putting more time and attention on the model if the emotions on her face that of sadness, and giving her a longer dress was intended to give her more of a lady like appearance.
You loved the butterflies? I won't even say how much trouble it gave me in their placements and blending, sometimes the easiest thing seems the most complicated for me hehe!

I do not think that your glory is lost, I think that the thoughts you write to create works of art as before, but with maybe new ideas ?! I also do not think that your abilities descend, I guess you have thoughts that are not yet fully developed to go other ways of your amazing work. I also had the creative crisis with mine Home design work new patterns, etc. and work in the workshop with my puppets ..!

Wow! I am very sorry this is so late, I have been catching up on notifications. I let them get way out of hand. This is absolutely stunning. It's like you know what is in my heart when you made this. I have lately been trying to save for a violin. I want so badly to begin learning to play the violin. It has been a long time dream but unfortunately, when I was young my parents would not let me.
