I dont exactly get what you mean by 'stinger', but I hope the implication that the transformation is permanent does come to use later. I would totaly adore the idea that she can now turn into a vampire pony at will, coming with all the abilities a vampire has, like increased speed and strength

A stinger is a last second shot of a movie/tv series episode.
I was using the word to avoid spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the episode yet.
If they go through with this, it's not going to be an ability to transform, but rather a permanent physical change.
My personal hypothesis, if Fluttershys transformation sticks, is that this is not the last change we are gonna see.
I think that there will be something happening to Pinkie Pie, for reasons of group symmetry.
Maybe the reveal that she is a unicorn with a broken off horn.

That theory is old and was already expressed via a song.
I personally doubt this would ever happen. It just makes too much sense and would drain so much humor from this character and instead turn it into a sad figure. Sounds like a show ruiner to me.
While I am starting to see patterns that all characters are starting to step up the game to face an even much bigger threat than ever before, I dont think Pinkie needs any additional power at all.
She already defies phsysics and can take on any enemy easily in her own crazy way.
If there is a character that still needs more power, those are Rarity, Applejack and possibly Rainbow Dash.

Also you might be right with it making too much sense, but Pinkie is not Discord.
Therefore this is neither a plus nor a minus to the probability of this hypothesis.
Also about your fear of turning her into a tragic character, think about it.
She has taken what is effectively a disability and turned it into her biggest strength,
if that is not uplifting, then I don't know what is.
Also it would not add to her abilities, as she already has them.
I disagree that RD and AJ need more power, AJ is the physically strongest character
we have seen on the show and RD can nuke her enemies.
Also I doubt that Rarity would fight whatever is coming directly.
Remember the Powerponies episode? She used her powers to basically snare her
opponents or assist her friends.

Well I for one dont want to see any more tragic backstory with pinkie pie other than the possibly soon established poor relationship between her and her family.
And yeah AJ and RD were just my second and third guesss. But the character I think desperately needs to level up is Rarity. Right now, she is the weakest member of the group without even having proper combat spells.

I actually got the idea from the fanfic "Pinkies' Magic" (it's on fimfiction).
To each their own, but as the episodes of this season have already been produced
our opinion only matters in the context of fanon.
If you go back to A Canterlot Wedding, you are going to see that Rarity is trained in
unnamed martial arts. An interesting vector to expand upon, wouldn't you agree?

Because she slapped changelings? You never really see her putting up a fight in any way like Applejack or Rainbow Dash do.
That does not cut it for me. If the foreshadowing is to be taken serious and the season 4 vilian turns out to be the pony of shadows, a remnant of nightmare moon, this bit wont be enough to effectively help the group.
Twilight is mighty with her alicorn magic, rainbow dash is fast and has sonic power, applejack is the physically strongest in the group and her hindlegs can kick you to oblivion, fluttershy is very agile as a vampire, pinkie has chaotic powers. Where does rarity hold up with all that?

We still have to see if Fluttershy only retains the fangs, or if this becomes
something more invasive. We are only seven episodes into the season
meaning there are nineteen episodes to come, anything could happen.
Consider NGE, which has 24 episodes and the movie to wrap it up, as an
example, for the first eighteen episodes it was just a really great mecha
show, before it shifted into the philosophical bullshit and became a totally
different show.
Also, returning to ponies, there is still this rumour going on about the
rainbow power, which could be anything from a major plot point to simply
a new line of blind bags.
