You must keep your tank walls pretty clean, it looks like you took this from inside the tank.

Cut little guys hehe

Ha ha !! Well, they're not mine; I took this at a garden centre that also sells fish and parrots
Thanks for this sweet comment.

Wow this is a really nice shot. I can't believe the photo turned out so clear even though it was taken through thick glass. Stunning shot. Looks like the fish are excited to see you and are fighting for your attention. I like how the fish look like they're smiling and the fish on the far right has his mouth open like he's saying "Oh". Cool shot and I even like the sparkles in the background to.

Thank you so much!

You're very welcome. It always annoys me when people comment with one or two words. Alot of people on Deviantart are extremely talented, including you of course, and I think the least people could do is explain why they like a photo.

It's not that type of site, I suspect I'm a member of a photographic site in S/Africa where there is emphasis on far more detailed analysis and crit of a photo; but that type of crit doesn't seem to be valued here. It's more of a back-pat and ego-stroking community on DA

It really does look like a choir! I must show this to my husband. We're both singers and I know he'll get a kick out of it. Maybe I'll even load it onto his laptop for a desktop surprise!

Great shot.

You're welcome I prefer to actually give a bit more thought into what I actually feel about a piece...if it means something to you, why hide it?

substar In reply to ChristinasDream [2006-05-07 05:49:25 +0000 UTC]

Quite so; I feel that way too. Sometimes one just seens 500 comments on a picture already, then you wonder whether the author has the time to wade through all the comments. Then I usually just favourite it without saying anything. Is that bad?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChristinasDream In reply to substar [2006-05-07 18:16:29 +0000 UTC]

Eh, I do that sometimes too. I figure if they have that many comments already (unless it's an older submission that hasn't been commented on in a while) then they'll probably never read it anyway.

substar In reply to Sun-Seeker [2006-04-29 15:08:18 +0000 UTC]

It's the Gimme More Food chorus. Haaargh, the camera saga... I had endless issues with the Nikon D200 and for the money paid, it wasn't giving me delirious joy I was craving. So... back it went; the shop returned it to Nikon who in turn refunded me in its entirety (without a word as to what faults they might have found). Now I opted for the Nikon D70s - only 6 megapixels, and NOT what I had originally wanted to get, but since I have a bagful of Nikon glass... what could I do? At least I have some spare change in pocket to blow on MORE lenses, haaaha.

Sun-Seeker In reply to substar [2006-04-29 21:03:25 +0000 UTC]

D70 users do amazing work.. do you know sigpras.? [link]
I went to look at all my other favs.... canon 350D! heheh but gilad has a D70 I'm sure!
Which wide angle have you?

substar In reply to Sun-Seeker [2006-04-30 06:44:32 +0000 UTC]

Well !!! Let me tell you - long pause for dramatic effect - we are a two-camera-system household. My husband bought what I'd actually been dreaming of (but didn't go for due to my Nikkor lenses) : the new Canon EOS 30D. It's a magic piece of equipment and with his 60mm micro lens pops perfect pictures straight from camera.

Sadly that 60mm is the only decent lens he's got for it, but I'm drooling over getting the Sigma 12-24mm (not a cheap one!)

My Nikon lenses include a really sharp Sigma 28-70 F/2:8 which delivers brilliant images.
Then I've got the kit 18-70mm which does okay and has the wider angle but is blown away for clarity by the Sigma.
My 'holy grail' is the 60mm macro Nikkor, a real diamond, this one. Then I've got a plastic-housing Nikkor 75-240mm; found in a strange little 2nd hand place and it's a bit slow but really not too bad at all.

I have a fixed 28mm manual, a 55mm Nikkor macro manual with PK13 extension ring (wonderful for REAL close work) and a 3rd party 80-300 zoom which is cr*p.

Am about to go look at your sigpras link right now. Never heard of it before.

is the 30D 12 MP or more? and hows about the sigma ex dc 10-20? Thats my dream lens.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

substar In reply to Sun-Seeker [2006-04-30 18:43:23 +0000 UTC]

The D30 is 8 - or 8.2 or something. Nothing grand by way of megapixels but delivers punchy pix straight out the box.

I did use the Nikon D200 for about 5 weeks and wasn't sufficiently impressed to want to keep it (that's a 10.2 m/pix machine). The Canon 5D (full-frame camera) boasts 12.8, I think... but comes with a hefty price tag.

I don't know much about the 10-20. Just know the 12-24 has a very good reputation.

Aaaaah, the endless lust for new toys

Errrr? Goldfish, I think - not koi, which are far more pricey and also somewhat bigger. This was taken in a gardening shop that also had parrots and tropical fish. I took pix of some other far more interesting looking fish as well, but this one came out all cutesy!
