Description

It’s slightly late, but there was no way I wasn’t going to draw my favorite witch for the Sketch Dailies Hermione Granger theme!

I so hated the updated uniforms they changed to for the 3rd film... A.) they were so generic... B.) WHY?! What possible point was there for the change other than Alfonso Cuaron being so insecure as a director he had to change every single aspect of the series aside from casting?! It broke so much continuity for no reason at all. The grounds looked different, the costuming changed... i mean okay I get it was supposed to be a "darker" theme to the previous entries, but that was going too far imho...

This is why I'm one of the weird people who prefers the first two films, handled under Chris Columbus, to the latter film entries... It's just a principle thing. Maybe on a purely film based level, the latter entries were "better" but with Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, it was very obvious in watching that what mattered most to Columbus was Rowling's vision of the world from the books, while it was equally obvious that what mattered the most to Cuaron was his vision of the world from the books...

I do appreciate that the first two films did seem, in some ways, to stick more closely to the books than the latter ones...but I still tend to enjoy the latter ones more as movies.

But when it comes to the Harry Potter universe, I just flat-out enjoy the books more than the movies anyway. None of the movies *completely* successfully capture what it's like to read the books, really. This is why, whenever I attempt Harry Potter art (of any sort) I let the books inform me more than the movies (which is not to say no movie influences ever leak in).

I've actually been thinking about re-reading the books again sometime soon, as it's been quite a while now. I need to get on that...

haha well if you'd like to know more of the world Harriet and co lives in, it's available too, haha. Also, if you use an ebook reader, I now post AHP on the website Archive of our Own (or AO3) and it actually gives the option of making ebook versions (.epub (nooks, various others), .mobi (kindle), and .pdf to name a few) of posted stories. So if you have one I could email you the proper formats.

Never Miss Granger looked so utterly cute. Your rendition is flawless. Love the rosy checks and knees. Man, I wish you could do animation. That would be like the best thing in the world. Thanks for sharing your talent to the world.

Thanks!

Yes, an animated Hermione would make for a fun subject if I could do that.

Aww - too much cute here, and you've got a GREAT style in taking her on. Nice to see Crookshanks make an appearance too - and that is an appropriate book title if there ever was one! XD

Thanks! I know you're a fellow Hermione fan, so I'm glad you like her look here. And it was fun to draw Crookshanks for the first time!
