Maybe it's something that has happened just after 'Snape's worst memory'?
Though their(=Lily and Severus) relationship was already as good as ruined, maybe this was the thing that made Lily turn her back to Severus forever?
((Something like; Severus and some Slytherins pass Lilly, calling her very rude names, hexing her/... But Snape doesn't do anything to stop them/even participate with his mates))
