The child of Mayor Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha, Bruce Wayne became witness to the death of both his parents after hired thug Joe Chill was sent by his father's enemy Oswald Cobblepot.
Bruce became the only surviving member of the Wayne family, taken under the care of the families' friend and new butler, Alfred Pennyworth. During his life, Bruce only lived under the promise he made that day: to avenge his parents and make Gotham a safer place by waging a one-man war on crime. Training for grand part of his adolescense to his early-adulthood, Bruce turned his body into the peak of human capabilities, be it physically or mentally.
After a nine-year disappearance from public life Bruce returned to Gotham and dons the cape and cowl of The Batman starting a one-man war on crime as the masked urban myth. With the help of Alfred and striking an alliance with Lieutenant James Gordon, even though D.A. Harvey Dent was against it, Batman is ready to take down Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni.
What none of them know is that there’s a another player in town, a mercenary named The Joker. After the death of Maroni by the hands of the Joker, Batman thinks of Joker as a dark version of himself if he ever cross that line of “no killing”. At some point Joker kidnapped Gordon’s daughter Barbara, both Batman and Dent joined the hunt for the Joker, during a fight Joker burned half of Harvey’s face and puts him in coma. Batman attacks Joker with but in the end doesn’t kill him.
In the end Barbara returns to her father and The Joker is put behind bars in the new Arkham Asylum. Bruce visits his childhood friend Harvey in the hospital and Dent says to him that he’s going to start a war against Batman, and he’s days in Gotham are counted.
