Description Saw the new trailer for JJ Abrams Star Trek re-boot during The Watchmen. Looks really good. Here's my take on Spock, as played now by Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes).

Thinking about doing a series of tribute portraits of the new cast...

Nice rendition. The blue Star Trek delta in the pupil is a nice touch.

Thanks. Not a lot of people catch that. I did a Kirk piece with the logo in the pupils, too. That one is a bit more obvious...

My dad, who got me hooked on the original series when I was young, just told me he didn't really care for the series or the movies. He said he liked Wolverine more... I am, at this point, so disillusioned...

Ha! Yeah, Trek was long gone but lived on in syndication when I was born. Star Trek The Next Generation was a God-send for me... Finally new stories in the Trek universe...

You're the first to comment on that. Put the star symbol in both my Kirk and Spock pieces - and no one said anything. Being the only spot of color, I figured they'd stand out better...

Thanks!

I loved the film, he was really great in it.

I'm sure I will. Been a fan of Trek for as long as I can remember - and a fan of JJ Abrams' work since I saw the first episode of Alias.

I only really got into Next Gen and Voyager in the Star Trek world, although i love all the films over the last 10 years or so. Haven't seen that one but i liked some of his older films and of course, Cloverfield

Alias was JJ Abrams show which shot Jennifer Gardner to stardom. Good show about spies and double agents and Jennifer's character kicking all sorts of ass. I recommend catching it if you ever get a chance... Show started out strong - but kind of lost it's way by the end. JJ then went on to co-create LOST and direct Mission Impossible 3, (which was very Alias-like).

It's so cool. I still can't get over the fact that it's Sylar as Spock, but Nimoy himself that he did a great job, so that's saying something.

It even made my wife say, "...wow..." and then we all cheered when we saw the Enterprise. Looks to be a great summer blockbuster! But, it'll be wierd not having a Star trek movie come out in the winter. It was a Christmas tradition to see a trek film whenever one was released... Oh well...

Well Leonard Nimoy is in the new movie as well... So I think you'll be happy. Zachary Quinto looks a lot like Leonard Nimoy - and seeing the two of them together in photos is pretty cool. Like a father and son... (And I'm talking about the actors here - not them made up as Spocks...)

Eirien-R In reply to StevenWilcox [2009-03-09 15:31:45 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, I'll have to take another look at the two. And, it'll be nice to see Nimoy again in a Trek movie.^^

yeah, I understand tere are a few cameos by the classic Trekers - minus Shatner, who turned down the chance to portray Kirk again. (He felt, from what I understand, that his role should be bigger...)
