Description Here's a Clone Trooper. One of the only things I've liked from the new trilogy. The bad guys are always kick ass...!

Nice I like how the lines really aren't that defined as well as the shading! It makes a nice effect!

You caught that. At first, I was going for an ultra realistic look and had a lot of harsh lines. Tried to make it more 'organic' and rough looking - even though it was a 'clean' figure to tackle.

I am really liking your new style, you've come leaps and bounds...I assume you're using photo reference a lot and perhaps even tracing photos, a technique that I have no judgement of. I've done it, Bradstreet seems to do it all the time, and even Michelangelo did it believe it or not...I'm just curious whether or not you are doing it

I do use photo refs for some of the more recent stuff. I don't have a light box, so I have to do very loose traces of photos. (I need to invest in both a light box and some good tracing paper...) I then flesh out the drawings and spot the blacks. I add greys once scanned into the computer. Trying to get that Bradstreet vibe. I wish I knew exactly what he does...

If you rent the Punisher movie in the special features there's a section on just Bradstreet. There are interviews and somewhat of a tutorial. I found it facinating.

This pic rocks too.

Yeah, that's on the NEED to own list. The extended movie version, though. It has an animated intro using Tim's art. It gives a little more back story to the Punisher and one of the bad guys in Kuait (sp?) during Desert Storm.

well your technique is working wonderfully...I think you should build yourSELF from where you're at now, take what you've figured out from bradstreet and adapt to the Steve-o way of doing things

Thank you. I've applied some of what I've learned from Bradstreet and Mignola to my sequential pages. My pin-up work and sequentials look nothing alike.

I should clarify: I used a photo of a clone trooper who was standing with both arms at his side. I used this as a basis for my drawing. I traced the basic shape/outline of the figure and then filled in the details by hand while looking at the pic. This is when I decided to make his arm bent holding his blaster. I then went to TimBradstreet.com to look at how he spots blacks and details metal objects.
