Yes, it was rather misty that day in November, and my daily walk brought me some surprising shots

Yes, that's right... thank you for noticing that!
Indeed, while we have lots of herons in this area, and i can see them daily, I also never saw one wading so deep in the water like this one...
Usually, they are standing at the edge of the water, or on a low branch or something...
This one was a surprise, to both of us, I bet

Thank you so much. I did quite some post-editing on this one all right - well, obvious of course, since it's a b&w version... I had been photographing plants just before, and messing with the white-balance - when I suddenly stood eye in eye with that heron - so no time to reset...
Result: ugly red-brownish pic...

One of the very scarse times that I love b&w

by the way, question: does that dark spot on the right top edge bother you? would you edit that away? - I saw it only when the pic was uploaded already, and now I see it every time, of course
