Description
Character 8 for the "Lilac Crew" upcoming conglomeration:
Teresa is a girl in the Southern Islands obsessed with the outside world. Emma nicknames her Tessa on her visit there, and she ultimately decides she prefers the nickname better. About half of the Lilac crew use Tessa, and half still use Teresa. Ceylon, not knowing which to call her, called her Tess-er-a - and thus Tessa gained Tessera as a second nickname.
Most of the Southern Islands prefer to keep to themselves, not concerning themselves with the outside world. Tessa is completely xenophilic. She visits the north for the first time when she is sixteen and changes her entire wardrobe to northern attire - even being willing to bear the hot, equatorial sun in the north's heavier clothing. The outfit here is from her second trip to the north, where she now has the freedom (and the funds) to design her own. The end result is hardly what anyone actually wears up north, but rather a flanderized version of it. This includes her hat, which is an exaggerated version of a fashion worn by purple mages of the north.
Generally, Tessa is fairly sweet, easily excited, but she has a mostly hidden rebellious streak that nearly has her running off with the Lilac Crew while she was still grounded. She has severe ADHD which plays into her abilities as a mage:
Tessa exclusively works in Time-based, purple magics. Specifically, she can increase or decrease the perception of time in a target and/or physically speed them up for a while. She is almost constantly using purple magic on herself, which gives her the ADHD effects. Tessa can seemingly move faster and even vanish if you look away for enough time. A side effect of Tessa's constant magic usage is that the girl is a bottomless pit. She never turns down the opportunity to eat, preferring sweets most of all.
Tessa is injured in the war, enduring an internal spirit invasion during the same attack that kills Beatrix's grandfather. She is only kept alive at the brink of death by casting 'stop' on herself to nearly freeze time for herself. No one here can truly exorcise the dark spirits inside her, but Ceylon and Emma combine their strengths to try and save her life. She is -- mostly fine after that, but with lasting personality changes due to the darkness that still lurks inside her.
