Description Back in the golden days of the Steelmire and Raven Gorge Railroad's coal operations, the railroad would often have massive trains of empty hopper cars bound for the mines in the Raven Gorge area. These were nicknamed "Mammoth Empty" due to the number of empty hoppers being sent on just one train, often hauled by the railroad's most powerful locomotives they could roster for such train. Because of this, these trains would often require three or four steam engines to haul these empties to the mines, and one very few occassions five were used to get these long trains over the steep grades. This picture taken in the late 1940s shows us two Leviathans pulling a Mammoth Empty out of Steelmire bound for the mines in Basil, with a 2-6-6-2 at the back pushing the long train behind the caboose. Nowadays the railroad doesn't operate Mammoth Empties anymore, especially behind steam locomotives thanks to some powerful diesels they operate, but one can only imagine what it was like seeing these long empty coal trains in action, especially on Tapeesa Pass.

Game used: Trainz: A New Era.
